"Guys, this is Steph. She's an exchange student from Montreal," K'Andre introduces her.

The guys all introduce themselves as Ty, Tyler, Brock, Owen, and Alex. Cole introduces himself too, pretending he doesn't know her. Brock, Cole's brother, hands her a Bud Light and she accepts it politely.

"Thanks," she smiles.

"No problem," he smiles back.

The boys make their way to the pong table outside to play beer pong and she watches along in amusement. Eventually K'Andre wins and challenges Steph to play.

"You're going down," she smiles mischievously.

Steph ends up beating K'Andre and some of the guys start saying how they want her on their team.

"Since I won, I think it's only fair that I make this guy my bitch tonight and get me all my drinks," she announces.

"Fine," K'Andre agrees.

Steph walks over to one of the pool lounge seats and sits down, taking in the view of the party. After a few moments, she notices a figure pull up beside her.

"Hey," she hears the person say.

She turns around and sees it's Cole he sits down on the chair alongside her.

"Hey," she bites her lip.

"I'm sorry that I pretended like we just met. I just didn't want the guys to be all up in my business. They were going to ask a million questions and make a big deal out of it," he explains.

"I get it. It's not like we were a thing anyway. We were just two friends having fun," she replies nonchalantly, masking the pain she feels fromnher words.

"Yeah, totally," he nods awkwardly.

"So how come you didn't tell me this was your school?" she asks.

"I assumed you knew that Wisconsin was my school," he shrugs.

"Clearly I live under some rock because I feel like the only one who didn't know," she giggles lightly.

"To make it fair, you didn't tell me you were coming here either," he replies.

"I didn't really know for sure until July and I didn't really think it mattered because I was convinced you would go to like BU or something," she explains.

"Well I'm glad you're here," he smiles.

"We should probably go back inside. Your boys are probably looking for you," she suggests, getting up.

He follows suit and they both go inside the house. The song The London by Young Thug, J. Cole & Travis Scott is playing and Steph makes her way to the makeshift dancefloor in the living room. Cole follows suit to not lose her and she starts dancing to the beat. She starts twerking on him and doesn't stop til the song stops. The song Ransom by Lil Tecca comes on and she vibes out to the song as she and Cole walk to find K'Andre.

They catch him in the kitchen talking to a tall, lightskin brunette.

"K'Andre, can you get me a beer?" she asks.

"Sure," he nods.

He goes into the fridge and hands her a beer. She thanks him before going up to the speakers where she sees a phone plugged into the aux. She goes to grab it when she sees a guy pull up.

"What's up?" he asks.

"Is it cool if I put on my party playlist? It's guaranteed to get people dancing all night," she asks.

"Sure," he nods, not really giving a shit.

She smiles and hands him his phone. She pulls her playlist up and plugs the phone in. The song Marianela by Lirico En La Casa comes on and the bass starts thumping through the speakers.

Most of the people at the party are confused because they've never heard dembow in their life but after a minute, start dancing to the song. Steph makes her way to the center of the dancefloor and start twerking. She gets a crowd chanting for her as she drops it down low and all the way to the floor. The song ends and Steph has worked up a sweat with all her twerking. The song Callaita by Tainy & Bad Bunny comes on and she makes her way over back to Cole.

He pulls her away and leads her back outside.

"I didn't know you could dance like that," he smiles.

"Well yeah, I'm Dominican and I got a fat ass, of course I can dance like that," she giggles lightly.

"You never showed me that in Montreal," he teases.

"Well you never put on Dembow for me to do that," she teases back.

"So that's what that music is called," he says in awe.

"Yeah it's Dominican hip-hop. It started in the neighborhood where my mom grew up in the capital city," she explains.

The song Caliente by El Tono comes on and she pulls him back inside. She drags him to the dancefloor and starts dancing on him, grinding onto him. No one pays attention because there's so many people dancing now. The song finishes playing and he pulls her upstairs.

"Where are we going?" she giggles lightly.

"Away from everyone," he replies.

They go all the way down the hall to a room. The door is unlocked and they go in. They sit down on the bed and they can faintly hear the sound of Tempted To Touch by Rupee playing in the background.

"You wanna talk?" she asks.

"Kind of. So why Wisconsin?" he asks.

"It's a prestigious school and I wanted to be far enough where my parents can't visit and micromanage me constantly but also close enough where they could drive here to move me in and out," she explains.

"Oh I see. I guess it was a coincidence that we happened to see each other again," she smiles.

"For sure," she nods, trying not to be awkward. "We should probably head back downstairs."

"Wait," he says, grabbing her wrust lightly. "Stay."

She sits back down and they stare at each other for a second and before she knows it, he's kissing her. The party is quickly forgotten as the two get lost in each other. Half an hour later, the two are spent against the bed spread. They bask in the afterglow for a few minutes before making their way back downstairs. Cole makes his way outside while Steph makes her way to the kitchen.

"Hey, I've been looking for you for like an hour. Where you've been?" K'Andre asks.

"I was just talking to Cole. He's a cool kid," she says nonchalantly.

"Yeah he's a really chill dude. You guys would make great friends," he admits.

"Yeah definitely," she replies.

If only everyone knew that she and Cole already have a complicated history that has become even more complicated with her sleeping with him again.
