Before you know it, it's getting closer to the time you have to leave. Gabriel wants to stay in the room and hang out there for the rest of the time, but you want to go outside again and maybe spend some time with Buddy.
You sigh. "Uh, Gabriel?"
"Yeah?" He replies slowly.
"Buddy wants to talk with me outside."
He raises his eyebrows. "O-Okay. Just, you know, be back soon so we can have some time together.
"Got it." You give Gabriel a thumbs up and leave the room with Buddy in your hands. "We gotta make this quick," you tell him.
"I just wanted to talk," he responds quietly.
You sigh again and reach the backyard. You sit on the bench like earlier and wait for Buddy to talk.
"Chucky likes to do things that us dolls aren't capable of doing."
You furrow your brows. "Like what?"
"Murder."
"He's still doing this?"
Buddy nods and you facepalm. "We need to get to the bottom of this. Instead of accusing Chucky, we need to actually talk to him and find out what's going on."
There's a pause...
"So what were you yelling about when you came in earlier?"
Buddy stares into your eyes. "Um. Well, it was more like he was trying to teach me."
You're left in confusion. You're also finding it really hard to get Buddy to speak the whole truth. He points towards the back of the treehouse. "The squirrels," he whispers.
You sigh and get up from the bench to check the 'squirrels.' As you inch closer and closer to the scene, you notice a trail of blood leading to the back of the treehouse. You see the squirrels; it's a horrific mess. You turn to Buddy. "D-Did you kill them?"
Buddy pauses and glances around. "One."
You squint your eyes and think, Buddy is pretty easy to manipulate, just based on this.
"So Chucky taught you?"
Buddy nods. "He said it was something fun to do in the meantime."
"Well Buddy, next time, don't do it!"
"I can't say no; Buddi dolls are programmed to listen to commands."
You sigh loudly and look up into the sky. What am I going to do? This is the type of situation you really wish you weren't stuck between. You came to this sleepover to have fun and hang out with Gabriel, not to uncover murder mysteries with the dolls!
"Come on," you order. This time, you don't pick up Buddy; he'll just have to walk on his own with you. At this point, you're just really annoyed, and you want all this to go away. And the worst part: Gabriel is completely unaware. You're just hoping that by time you go back home today, all of this drama will go away.
"(Y/N)!" You hear Gabriel call it from above.
"Yeah?" You call back. What now?
"Um. Can I... talk to you?"
"Sure..."
You run up the stairs with Buddy slowly trailing behind. His small legs can't keep up with you, that's what. You can hear him calling your name from behind, but you just ignore it. You reach the bedroom. "Hello?"
Chucky's sitting on the bed post and Gabriel's sitting in the game chair. "Oh, hey."
You clear your throat. "What's... going on?"
You feel movement next to your feet, and you look down to see that Buddy finally caught up. Gabriel raises his eyebrows and gets up from the chair. "It's Buddy." He walks over to the door and says, "If you don't mind, this is a talk— without you." He then closes the door and locks it, too, and you hear Buddy making unintelligible sounds. Gabriel turns around and sighs as he starts to speak, "Okay. (Y/N), Chucky said that when they were outside, Buddy killed a squirrel, I think it was, and then just bursted through the doors and blamed him for everything."
You raise your eyebrows and bring them down. You scoff as well. "Well, quite the contrary. Just now, Buddy told me that it was Chucky who killed most of the squirrels, and he convinced Buddy to kill just one."
Chucky's eyes light up and he looks at Gabriel. "I just told you the truth."
"Uh... maybe this was a bad idea," he says lowly. He pats Chucky on the head and unlocks the door. Buddy comes RIGHT THROUGH the door and looks around the room frantically.
"It's fine," you whisper. Buddy looks up at you with wide eyes and shakes his head. You look at your watch and sigh when you see the time. "It's almost 5:30. My dad will be here soon."
Gabriel looks down and sighs, too. "Well, we'll see each other Monday."

You all make your way downstairs and wait in the living room for your dad to arrive. He finally arrives, five minutes late as usual, and hug Gabriel good-bye and leave the house. As you walk to the car, you just think about all that happened. Honestly, you're not really... happy. Just a little down, that's all.
