Chain of Memories

"Kai—!" You called out as you ran through the sand "Ri—!! —ora!!" You giggled and opened the door to the small wooden cabin that leads up to the bridge connecting to the curved tree.

"What should we play now?" You asked as you looked out to the sea.

"How about we start working on the raft." A silver haired boy said with an eye roll, an annoyed look on his face. "Why don't we do it tomorrow? The sun sets in an hour." A girl with short red hair and brilliant blue eyes suggested as she played with the little charm she was making.

You sighed and plopped down on the sand "Ri—, H—sa! Lets sword fight!" The brunet said and you grinned "okay! You're on!" You and the brunet began to tease each other as the sliver haired boy stood up "fine, but winner doesn't have to gather supplies for the raft."

You shot awake, covered in sweat and breathing heavily. "What...who were.."
You trailed off as you took in your surroundings, the eerie bright white room greeted you.

After getting over your strange dream you got up and headed out of your room to find Axel, but you bumped into a certain blond instead

"Oh! Echo I'm sorry." Roxas apologized while placing his hands on your shoulders to steady you, since he body slammed you

Hearing you 'name' you just stared at him, your mind on your dreams from before. He tilted his head at your strange behavior and shook you slightly "hey, you okay?" He asked again, causing you to snap back to reality and nod.

"Y-Yeah,I'm alright..I was just going to see Axel-"

"You overslept, he already took off. On the bright side, you get to join Xion and I on your first mission today." He said with a smile as he let go of your shoulders, feeling confident that you wouldn't fall over. "Mission?" You questioned and he nodded "Yeah, I'll explain more when we get there. I think Xion already left, so we should meet her there."

He the put up his hand but hesitated before putting it back down. "Here, why don't you try? All nobodies can make a corridor through the darkness AKA a portal." You just stared at him so he took your hand and put it up, palm out in front of you. "Lets start easy. Remember where we were yesterday? The tower? Think of it in your head, and you should feel a tingling in your fingers and the portal will open."

You pictured the tower and closed your eyes to focus. You tensed up all your muscles, trying your hardest to make a portal.

Right has you felt the tingle in your fingers, a sharp pain erupted in your chest. You let out a groan and fell to your knees.

"Hey!" Roxas was, of course, instantly by your side. "What happened..?" He asked and you just shook your head "I...I don't know. I felt the tingle..then just..an awful pain.."

"I know, I saw a flash from your chest...thats so strange...can you stand?" He asked and you nodded, but he helped you up anyways.

"Here, we'll figure that out later. For now, we're going to Agrabah."

You and Roxas stepped out of the portal to see Xion already waiting for you both. She gave you a gentle smile and quickly made her way over to you as you took in your surroundings. The place felt a bit familiar but you shook it off.

"Great! You both made it." She greeted and Roxas gave her a smile before turning to you. "Echo, our mission is to defeat heartless and collect hearts. But we have special weapons to do that- its called the Keyblade."

He and Xion summoned keys at the same time and the image of the boy from your dream popped into your head, bringing with it pain that you ignored. "These ensure that the heartless are killed and the hearts collected" continued Xion "Without the Keyblade, the hearts a heartless has when killed will just go to another heartless."

You nodded your head in understanding "Keyblade.." You repeated as you vaguely recalled a similar weapon you used before to fight a boy. But your memory of before yesterday when Axel brought you to the world that never was wasn't good at all, and you weren't sure if it was a dream.

Roxas and Xion both smiled encouragingly "Thats right." Xion praised before the two of them turned their attention to an odd looking creature with beady yellow eyes "Just in time!" Roxas joked as he and Xion got in a fighting stance "Echo stay back. No combat for you today." Roxas called out and you nodded "Okay."

And so the two of them rushed into battle as you stayed, your eyes fixed on the both of them and the strange familiarity of their weapons. For some reason, the brown haired boy in your dream gave you a strange sensation in your chest, your chest feeling tight and uncomfortable.

You spent the day watching Roxas and Xion battle various heartless. "And thats that." Roxas cheered as him and Xion made their way over to you. "Another successful mission." Xion agreed with a smile.

"Are we going back to the castle?" You asked and they shook their heads "without ice cream? No way!" Roxas gave you a fake offended look and you tilted your head at him "Oh right! We didn't get ice cream yesterday, I forgot...but I promise we'll have some today." Roxas held out his pinky and you gave him an exasperated but confused look.

"Oh, right. Its a pinky promise. Here, like this.." he took you hand and made a fist, but kept your pinky out before wrapping his around yours and shaking your hands once. "See? Easy. Pinky promises can never be broken." He explained and you nodded, a big smile on your face. "Oh, alright."

"Come on! Im ready for ice cream! Besides, I'm sure Axel is already waiting for us!" Xion called before walking into a corridor. Soon you and Roxas followed after her.
