Ice Cream and Usual Days

You stepped out of the portal to discover Xion was right, Axel was already there, waiting. "Hey! Took you three long enough, the ice cream is gonna melt." He said as he gave each of you a sea green ice cream.

"Erm.." You closely inspected the ice cream before Roxas laughed and put a hand on your shoulder "Nono, just eat it. Like this." He took a bite to demonstrate and you followed after.

"Its sweet...and salty." You mumbled and Xion and Roxas mentioned that was their first thought as well. "Isn't it really good?" Xion asked and you nodded happily "It is." You agreed before turning your attention to the sky

"I really like the sunset.." You breathed softly as you and the others sat down on the ledge "Reminds me of someone... but so does the night sky."

"Memories from your somebody?" Xion asked and you shrugged "You know..im not sure." You mumbled and the four of you fell silent until Axel spoke up "y'know why the sun sets red?" He asked, causing Roxas to groan and you and Xion to shake your heads

"You see, light is made up of lots of colors. And out of all of those colors, red is the one the travels the farthest." He said with a casual shrug but you could tell he knew he blew your minds.

"Really?" Xion asked as you smiled slightly and watched the sun setting "I think my somebody knew a boy who wore red."

Roxas laughed to himself and put an elbow on your shoulder before nudging his head in Axel's direction "Hey, maybe it was Axel's somebody!" He joked making the both of you and Xion laugh but Axel looked a bit like he'd seen a ghost before awkwardly laughing it off.

It was silent for a while before Xion spoke up "Hey Axel...am I your friend?" She asked and he rubbed the back of his head before thinking
"Well you're friends with Roxas..so any friend of Roxas is a friend of mine, 'course we're friends." She smiled shyly before looking back down at her ice cream and eating it.

"Are we friends too Axel?" You asked and he looked up at you with almost sad eyes "Yeah, 'course we are...it feels like I've known you for years..." He mumbled under his breath
"Thank you, Axel." You grinned at him and he waved you off "Just eat your Ice cream.."

And that was how you spent the rest of your day, laughing and joking with your friends as the sun descended below the horizon.

The next two months were much the same, but Roxas and Xion didn't always go on missions together so somedays you went with Roxas, the others with Xion, and occasionally a few with Axel. Xemnas apparently still refused to let you fight, and you still had ice cream with your friends after missions, everyday was the same- except the past 8 days you haven't seen Xion at all.

"Do you think she's gonna show today?" Roxas asked, causing you to shrug and Axel to to sigh and give a 'how should I know' answer to Roxas.

"I haven't seen her in a while...I hope she's alright." You mumbled worriedly as you watched your ice cream melt in your hands, you just weren't in the mood.

"Your ice cream- you guys look, im sure she's fine, alright?" Axel said, not liking his friends's sad faces "if we don't see her in two days we can all go find her, deal?"

You and Roxas looked at each other before nodding, and the three of you linked pinky fingers "Promise." Axel smiled at the two of you, a faint memory flashing through his mind of the time he had met you both. He still remembered your names, Ven and ~~~~.

"Axel?" Your voice seemed to draw him back to reality "Are you alright?" You asked as Roxas silently stared in concern

"Yeah..just thinking of some old friends."

Days had passed and Xion still never showed up. "Well that settles it, we find Xion today." Roxas said with a look of determination that honestly just made him look cuddly.

"Well not exactly finding her, I know where she is, or where she's supposed to be." Axel spoke up causing both you and Roxas to brighten up.

The three of you made your way to the mansion in twilight town, seeing a large ugly heartless and a certain ravenette running towards it. "Xion!" Roxas immediately called out to her before you could stop him. His shouting caused her to get distracted and hit by the heartless

"Xion!!" You went to run over to her before Axel stopped you "No! Wait until Roxas and I attack it, then you help Xion!"
You nodded in agreement and waited until they attacked it to run over to her "Xion! Wake up!" You gently shook her as you tried to get her to wake up.

"Echo!" You turned around only to see the heartless in your face, ready to attack- and it did. You held you hand out in front of you and felt a warm tingling feeling and the familiar weight of a cool object and a bright light.

When you opened your eyes the heartless faded away, its heart floating up to the sky. "Echo?" Roxas and Axel stared at you in shock and your eyes moved from their stunned faces to the object in your hand. "Keyblade" Suddenly a flash of 'memories' began running through your mind.

You screamed in pain and grabbed your head, it feeling close to exploding as you fell to your knees. By now Xion was awake and gently shaking you. Your three friends surrounded you, speaking but you couldn't hear. Soon enough, darkness began to take you, and you were welcomed back to the world of dreams
