Chain of Memories

Who am I?

You awoke to the familiarity of your bedroom. You let out a soft groan as you sat up and rubbed your head.

"Good to see you're awake."

Your head snapped up to the source of the voice to find Saïx, staring at you.
"Were you watching me sleep?" You asked in a slightly irritated tone

"Your friends were, especially Roxas. He refused to leave your side. You've been asleep for some days."

You were silent for a few seconds and he walked over to you "I hear you engaged in combat..even though you were ordered to accompany Roxas, nothing more." "Xion was going to be hurt, what was I supposed to do?" You snapped at him, and he grabbed your jaw, his eyes buring into yours, but his expression and voice were smooth and unwavering. "Then she is collateral damage. You do as your told, or you're a dusk. Is that understood?"

Saïx made you uneasy and his threats sent ice into your veins. "Yes. I understand." You hissed and he released you. "Tell me what you remember." He said as he eyed you closely

"What are you talking about?" You asked, causing him to roll his eyes at you "You have a keyblade." "It doesn't belong to me, it was my somebody's." You said glumly

"Did you remember more about your past life?" He pressed and you stood up "why does it matter so much to you? So what if I remember who I used to be? You all do! Except Xion and Sora!" His eyes widened a bit at the end of your little outburst. you weren't sure why, maybe it was from your yelling.

All he said was "I see" before he left and you were alone once again. "Hmm.." You took a deep breath and held out your hand, a bright flash of light and there it was, your Keyblade.
"Why me?" You mumbled as you stared at it "I'm nobody..." You got up and walked downs the window to stare at the vast black sky. "Who am I? Who are the people in my dreams?"

You looked down and something shiny caught your eye. The faint glimmer coming from the partially opened nightstand drawer. You hesitantly opened it and your breath caught in your throat. Laying inside was a purple star shaped charm. Your eyes watered as you picked it up, your hands shaking slightly "What are you..? W-Why am I..?" You wiped the tears and held the charm to your chest, it aching terribly. "N-Nobodies can't cry...w-what am I?!" You dropped the charm back in the drawer and slammed it shut as you dropped to the floor. Images of blue hair, familiar worlds, friends, your somebodies memories filled your mind and racked you with pain "Make it stop!" You cried out but no one could help you, you were alone.

The next weeks were not the best. You shut your friends out and spent most days in your room. You were technically supposed to go with Roxas but he wouldn't make you go. Axel brought you ice cream every night, Xion would leave you shells she collected, and Roxas would sit outside your door and talk to you about his days for hours every night, even though you didn't answer. Eventually you felt good enough to let them come in, and they'd each spend a lot of time with you, especially Axel and Roxas.

**OPTION AXEL ROMANCE**
"Glad you're finally letting me eat ice cream with you." Axel teased as you glumly ate your ice cream. "You know you can't stay like this...in a few days Saïx is sending you on missions of your own." You sighed and stayed silent, causing him to gently bump your shoulder "C'mon! Talk to me, whats got you like this?" He asked more softly

"Its just..I'm starting to have these memories..of my somebody..and they hurt..so much.." he looked guilty "And..a few weeks ago I-...I cried..? Nobodies can't cry.." You looked at him with a broken expression "What am I?" You whimpered and he hugged you "Stop..~~-Echo don't do that to yourself.. you're one of us. This is where you belong.." Axel knew he was lying, but a part of him didn't. You belonged with him, Roxas, and Xion. You were their friend. They needed you.

You hugged him back and smiled a bit. Axel was always so goofy but he was pretty wise too. He always knew just how to cheer you up. "Axel, thank you." "I'm always here for you, got it memorized?"

**OPTIONAL ROXAS ROMANCE **
"Echo! I brought you Ice cream." Roxas smiled as he sat next to you on your bed "Hey.. not even a little smile?"  He frowned as he handed you your ice cream. "You've been like this for weeks now.. and you won't tell me." He shook his head and grabbed your free hand "Please, tell me."

You looked into his blue eyes and sighed "I..I'm remembering my somebody...all her memories hurt..." You looked down to avoid his sympathetic gaze "A-And I've cried before..im a monster. Nobodies can't cry."

"No!" His yelling made you jump "huh?" "Don't. Don't ever say you're a monster again, understand?" He asked as he squeezed your hand slightly and you nodded, still a bit shocked by his yelling. "You're one of best people I've ever met, nobody or not, you're special." You smiled slightly "I feel like I've known you.." He mumbled and you nodded "I do too...I'm not sure what it is..but I've seen your face before."

"Maybe our somebodies were friends?" He offered as he kept his hold on your hand "Maybe." If only the both of you knew how right you were.

Yay being productive. Im leaving for Korea Thursday so wish me luck! I'll try and update in the coming days as well. Until next time❤️
