His strong hands blew her face, leading her to fall on her chin. She was bewildered and suddenly he roared..."You bitch, You're a GRAHAN to me...get lost otherwise I'll kick your face off".
She ran outside trembling, with a sudden feeling of nausea, unable to understand that what is going on and how to react. She went and sat on the boundary of the wall embracing her knees with her hands and supporting her chin on it. Her hazel eyes were filled with the tears of pain, her clear tanned skin turned into red, because of continuous sobbing.
Suddenly she felt a severe pain in her chest... her breathing hitched... she pressed her chest hard but it could not help and she lost her balance, her legs leading her to fall in the well. She was out of strength and wanted to die.... she haven't jumped into the well deliberately to die but she neither screamed for some help as well.
She was remembering the bitterness of her life, which was so bad that even the death seemed sweeter than that. She recalled how her father was willing to have a boy which is seen as an asset by the society but she was a girl, a liability, for whom he had to collect dowry and also have to protect her and lose reputation in the society... ugh... the old mean Indian society.
He became furious at the thought of having a girl and tried to bury her alive, but her mother saved her. Her mother, who was just 'seventeen' at that time and a beautiful lady who was married at a young age of 'fifteen', they escaped from that hell. She was only two days old at that time, they came across some unknown village and decide to hide there.
She started to work at big bungalows and also used to do work on daily wages as a labor for sustaining herself and her little baby. She was a single mother, she had to face the interrogations in people's eyes, their judgement, declaring her 'characterless' and even referring her as a 'SLUT'. She was also tried to be harassed sexually several times, but she never feared the society, never gave up her self respect and lived with pride.
She was as strong as lioness, as proud as peacock, as hardworking as an ant and her voice seemed as melodious as a 'cuckoo'. She wanted her daughter to be strong enough to face the world and live with pride. Instead of telling her stories of prince and princess, she used to sing lullabies of strong women warriors to her and according to it named her after the name of the famous women warrior 'RAZIA' .
