Been two months since things turn for the worse, the day we lost our home forever. The remaining survivors in the East Coast Region had been evacuated, having no choice but to flee the Center Region. The Reapers said because of the large explosion had happen on October 17 spread an airborne virus causing a mutation in the human gene, causing them to become Revenants with "special abilities". The Reapers claim this is not a result of the Book of the Dead but caused by some unknown identity. Before commutations been lose in the outside world a message been receive from all over the two main regions, one statement.
The results of biotechnology continue to ruin us, those who are weak will be infected by the A.L-plague.
The Reapers had received word the A.L-plague been identified as a mutagenic virus making contact within a cell's membrane; by inserting its genetic coding into the cell. The cell absorbs the viral genome into its own genetic make-up, which takes over the cell's functions. The cell begins to produce offspring of the original virus. The new viruses are released from the host cell and infect the neighboring cells, which starts the process all over again. Depending on the physiology of the person and the environment can trigger unique mutations. The A.L-plague managed to infect at least one third of the east coast in America, leaving those few who are able to survive the airborne infection.
Up till now Marie, Ryder, Noelle, and I along with the remaining saviors been crossing through America, praying to make towards the Center Region. The Center Region had been reconstructed to be the center hold for the USA branch for the Inter Reaper Armed Forces, though I never seen the base in person. Marie claims at the center of the region theirs the IRAF headquarters, a giant fortress with a lush green scenery and life brimming everywhere you gaze at, but these are simply words of my sister so this is hard to imagine of a fortress of high magnitude, I mean this place didn't sound believable, the way she described HQ seemed like another world, a fantasy to tell children to sleep easy at night, to me any place outside the walls sounded better.
The journey itself hasn't been an easy one, day by day seems we come across the undead everywhere you turn. To make matter worse rations like food and water been scares and gas for transportation also been lacking, we had to abandon at least three vehicles and space is now been limited. Even time been cut short for us, the Reapers believe we can't stay in one spot forever, because we will be much closer as prey for them.
In the beginning this doesn't seem the reality hasn't set in for Ryder and me as we heard a demonic voice echo throughout the city walls, but after a while as days turn into weeks, dragging into a month. We grew to accept the situation, but this didn't mean we approve the change of events.
"Marie how much longer? The car won't stop shaking..." she said whining about the movement.
"Don't worry Noelle not much longer okay, only a few more miles and will be able to make camp" she said as she rub Noelle head.
"Okay..." She went back to sleep hoping for the better.
Ryder and I sat next to them in front of the car, due to Marie position as a Reaper we had the position to sit in the front under her guidance. I had a negative sensation for our friends who had to sit in the back, most of our classmates had survive the aftermath of Gilgamesh but to only to receive word of their parents been caught in the explosion. I remember the sad and crying expressions my classmates had made when they heard of their loss, most of them tried to move on but some part of them lost some of their humanity.
In the long run the only thing keeping them alive and pushing forward is their not alone in their suffering. No matter what person you meet in this New World somebody at least loss somebody, if you describe this New World in one word it would have to be; grieve. Grieve is a powerful emotion that can easily change the human heart, the results can be gruesome, it is this emotion grieve, can bring about a new emotion; hatred, that at which leads the path of an avenger. In this New World, hatred is the catalyst for the Reapers, there hatred for the undead that plagued the world. At the time I didn't understand what my fellow classmates been thinking as they suffer the loss of their loved ones, in the end I stood there silent hearing all them cry out there emotions without nobody telling them to stop, and I stood there in silences; utter silences.
