With feelings of regret I ran as fast as my little legs could alongside Ryder, Noelle, and the other kids. Most of the children covered their ears as they ran, trying to block out the noises of the remaining survivors being ambushed by an unknown attacker.

"Ahhhh!!"

But simply covering their ears did not provided much protection in the chaos happening on the convoy.

"Huff...Huff...W-What are we going to do, Evan!?"

Noelle shook the right side of my shoulder, trying to regain her breath as we kept running.

"What Marie told us to do, to keep running in this direction until the wall appears!"

"B-But what about Marie and the other adults? They're going to be fine, right?!"

I hesitated at first, because I didn't know the answer to the question myself or I was more terrified to answer what might be the likely outcome of the attack we were running away from.

"Marie and the others are going to be fine Noelle!" I answered trying not to lose my stamina.

"Marie is one of the strongest Reapers around. She never backs down from a challenge!" Ryder shouted from my left as we ran. Hearing him say that put me at ease.

"And besides, if those weird creatures decide to attack us I brought this in case of emergency." Ryder pulled something odd out of his back pocket, something a twelve year old kid shouldn't be carrying.

"Ryder! Where did you get that gun?!" I asked shouting.

"I found it in the glove compartment of the truck. But I didn't want to grab it yet until Marie lost sight of me."

"Ryder! That's a dangerous weapon. You might shoot somebody!" Noelle shouted while trying to hold back her tears.

"Don't worry. I've seen Marie use a hand gun like this before many times in the past. It shouldn't be too hard to use...hopefully." With a cheeky smile, he waved the gun back and forth.

"Really, Ryder!? Of all the times you're going to be annoying now?!" Clearly nobody should be in the mood to be joking with him.

"I'm not being annoying. Only confident that I can use this weapon....hopefully."

"Again!...Being annoying!"

"Nooo! Being confident!"

"Guys!!"

"What?!" We both shouted at the same time at Noelle only to realize she had stopped right in her tracks.

"A-Above us!!"

Her finger couldn't stop trembling. She pointed to an odd creature perched on a rock. Ryder, the other kids and I did the same and came to a complete stop to find a creature with pale skin, long white hair and bright red eyes starring as it stood there with a devilish smile.

"Aha! There you are my sacrificial lambs. Or should I say my golden little chicks?"

We all froze in terror. Whatever the creature was, it is not a Revenant. The creature gazed upon us until it found it sight fixed on Ryder.

"You! With the gun. Ha-ha-ha! I love that expression boy! That sudden expression of hope turning into despair. I actually recall that expression. You should have seen the last person who made that face in front of me. Tears running down her face when I struck her dead. Oh! So, priceless."

The creature held its face in the palm of its hand with the most sadistic passion. I started to lose focus. Somehow I knew as clear as day of who that thing was talking about, but I didn't want to believe it.
