Dead Breaker Vol. 1

CH12: Living Slayer

4:10 p.m.

As we followed Alec to the First District streets, more specially name; Third Street intersection. Alec ran in the front only few feet away from us as Elysia and I ran behind him. Apparently something had happened in the Third Street intersection and I wanted to know what. Seconds later we found it.

"What's going on?" I said looking from afar. A large crowd of people circled around something. All three of us dove into the crowd to see what they were looking at.

"T-This is...?!"

There was yellow tape around what seemed like a murder, expect-

"It got another one..."

"It such a shame, he was so young too..."

Other people around us were whispering, staring at a young boy probably around the same age as us. The boy was lying on the ground. There were no injuries on his body but his eyes were wide open, completely lifeless.

"People around the First District are saying the Living Slayer did this..."

I turned to my right as Alec spoke out-Living Slayer?

"A Slayer? Is that what they're calling it?"

"Yeah...it's been going on for weeks now. Apparently late at night this thing called the Living Slayer comes out when you're alone and steals your soul. At least that's what the people are saying," he continued in his worried tone. "There have been many such cases in the First District. The Black Wing Division is planning to start a curfew after eight since this Living Slayer comes usually after that time."

"Living Slayer, huh?" I asked. "I wonder what kind of an enemy this thing is?"

I stared at the Wing Division as they picked up the young boy and carried him into the vehicle.

"This is probably the work of someone who couldn't control their Reaper Edge and went rouge..."

Alec and I turned when Elysia spoke out.

"I'm guessing you have seen this before?" I said raising my eyebrow.

"Once or twice, yes. This Living Slayer is probably someone who wielded the Reaper Edge, couldn't control it and was consumed by the Reapers arrogance, and now he or she is on a soul stealing spree."

"Ehhh?" Alec shouted after listening to Elysia.

"For once I agree with Alec, Elysia, you need to start by explaining what Reaper Edge is first before you start stating news about someone going rouge and stealing souls," I said concerned.

Elysia looked at the confused expression on both our faces.

"Oh? Sorry, you're right. I guess hearing this information first would be confusing."

She took in a deep breath and looked at the crowd of people around us.

"Well, if I'm going to explain what Reaper Edge is first then we need to find a more isolated area," she said and started walking in the opposite direction. Alec and I followed her.

After about twenty minutes of walking, Elysia took me and Alec to a more deserted area. The area itself was still under construction but nobody seemed to be working in it. Alec and I stood in front of Elysia ready to know more about the Reaper Edge.

"Might as well show you both what the Reaper Edge truly is," said Elysia, a smile on her face.

"Show us?" asked Alec.

"Yes, show you," Elysia nodded her head and a sly smile showed on her face. She pulled out what appeared to be two kunai from behind. The kunai's were conventionally wrought in lengths ranging from 20 cm to 60 cm, with the average at 40 cm. Expect these were solid black with unusual symbols imprinted on the blades.
