Jayne sat with her lower body soaking in the crystal clear waters of the hotel pool. Her first few days at the resort were going swimmingly, no pun intended, as Rafe kept his distance while trying to find some towers out in the middle of the jungles of Madagascar. He tried explaining it to Jayne, but she tuned out as soon as the name "Avery" tickled her ears.
"Ah. Jayne. I have been looking for you, darling." Rafe's voice came closer as Jayne's eyes stayed closed behind her dark sunglasses, her head laid back as she felt the warmth of the sun kiss her skin. Rafe stood over her, his body causing shade to cover her. "Do you mind? My pasty skin needs sun, darling." Jayne hissed as she kept her head back and her spine arched. Rafe let out a low chuckle as he crossed his arms in front of his chest. "I was hoping you'd accompany me to the market. Maybe see if you can find a little something for yourself." Jayne sat up and pushed her glasses off the bridge of her nose as she looked at her husband. "Hm. No treasure hunting for you? That's a surprise..." She scoffed.
"Quite the opposite. Not much danger can happen when there are hundreds of witnesses. Nadine wanted to scope out around the marketplace and look for some things we're missing, and I thought it'd be a good opportunity to be with my wife." Jayne rolled her eyes as she pushed her sunglasses back up to the bridge of her nose. Rafe extended his hand for Jayne to take and she placed her hand in his as he helped her to stand. "Fine. I'll go get dressed."

Nadine drove the jeep as Rafe fiddled around on his phone after they toured around the marketplace for a few hours. "You know, they've been seen here by my men." Nadine began, Rafe's eyes not leaving his phone as Jayne just rolled her eyes, her arms crossed as she watched the buildings pass by as they drove. "Hmm. I assumed as much. I did pay top dollar to track those idiots down. In town then?"
Nadine nodded. "Well, maybe we should see if we can have a little...chat?" Rafe pulled the ear piece from the center console of the Jeep and tucked it into his ear and began dialing.
"Sam. Did you get the photos?"
Rafe just started laughing. Jayne could hear bits of the conversation, but she mostly just knew Nathan was the one speaking at the moment.
"Here I am, calling what I thought was Sullivan's phone, and look who picks up. How you been Nate?"
Rafe's voice confirmed it as Jayne's stomach dropped. If Nate was there, Sam wasn't too far behind, or so she assumed.
"Hey Rafe. It's been a long time. How'd you get this number? Sullivan leave it on a cocktail napkin?"
Rafe gave a hearty laugh as his gaze drifted to the road. "I wish. That only would've cost me a few shots of rum, right? No. No, I had to pay top dollar to find you guys."
"Yeah, well I hope you didn't spend too much on this whole Avery thing. I hear the competition's fierce."
"Yeah, you pulled off some clever moves there, but in the end all that matters is who gets to Avery's treasure first."
Jayne could hear Nate laugh on the other end. She gave a smile as it was typical Nate to not back down from a challenge. "That sounds like a bet."
"Hey, Nate, you know I'm always game, but my partner. Well, she prefers to mitigate unnecessary risks." Jayne narrowed her eyes at the back of Nadine's head as she knew Nadine was smirking like a cat who just ate the canary. She knew, just knew that Nadine would kill Nate or Sam without hesitation at the first chance.
"Wow. Rafe Adler taking orders from somebody else. Oh, how the times have changed. You won't even let Jaynie boss you around."
Rafe sighed and shook his head. "Look, Nate. I'm gonna make you a one-time offer here...You drop everything, go home, live your life, and I'm wiling to forgive and forget. For old time's sake."
