Who Do I Love?

(Still Alec's POV)
A/N: Everyone's a mundane here

I'm an engaged man. To a girl. Lydia. I don't like her. I'm gay. I love another man.

Today's the last day before I get married. I am terrified. I know I can never have what I want, so I'm doing this for my family. My friend Simon and my brother, not biologically, decided to throw me a bachelor party. Everyone knows except for my parents and of course Lydia who I really love, so they hide it too.

As I open my door the two boys enter my house.

"Alec! You ready for tonight? Simon and I got it all covered for you. All you have to do is participate. You ready?" Jace asked.

"No, I think I'll pass. I'm gay remember? I won't go to a club full of girls."

"Ya, I know. So we're going to a drag show! Not a strip club full of men, but, you'll be entertained the whole night. Will you come now?"

"Sure. Did you guys bring Magnus? I was calling him but it kept saying he wasn't available."

"Sorry Alec, we can't reach him too. Let's just have fun for one night. Before you marry a girl who's using you for your money."

"She isn't Jace. We're getting married because mom and dad said they wanted me to marry a girl. She was in love with me ever since high school so now here I am, getting married to her. And we'll sign a prenup anyways."

"Whatever. Get dressed then get in the car. We'll wait for you there." He took off.

I get dressed in a suit then we left. When we arrived I saw so many people in the show. I have no idea who anybody is, even those drag queens. As we sit down, the show immediately begins.

It was actually a fun night. The performers were super funny, and they looked amazing. As the three of us leave Simon gets a phone call. He leaves for a bit then came back to us.

"Jace, Clary called. She said she needs you to help her move her things to your place and she told me Magnus is there."

"Well, I guess I should help. Can we all go together?" Jace suggested.

"Sure. I'll drive going there." I replied.

As we arrive at Jace's house Clary and Magnus were still unboxing her things. Jace and Simon helped while I pulled Magnus to a corner to have a little chat.

"Magnus...will you come? I know this is wrong but, I have to do this for my family. I hope you understand."

"Oh yes, I do understand. You always tell me you can never have what you want. I'm sick of hearing that all the time. Why don't you fight for it? For us?"

"Magnus you know I can't do that. I'm so-"

"I have to guys! Bye!" He cut off.

Everyone waved their hands and bid him farewell then he turned to me.

"Goodbye Alexander." He then took off.

As I get dressed my sister, Izzy, went in my room.

"You ready for today? For, marriage?"

"No but, I'm sure I'll be fine. Is she ready?"

"Yup. She actually looks really gorgeous. You should go first though right?"

"Ya. See you later Izzy."

"See you later, Alexander." She said impersonating Magnus.

I put on my black bow tie then put on my white suit jacket. I exit my room then proceed to the wedding venue.

As I get out of my car, every guest welcomed me inside and kept saying 'congratulations' every single time. I acted happy so that no one would notice that I don't even like her. I approached my mom who was at the altar.

"Hey mom."

"Alec! I'm so happy for you. How long have you been together again before this?" Mom asked.

"4 years and 7 months..." I looked down.

"What's wrong? Aren't you happy? It's your special day."

"Mom...I can't do this. I thought I was doing the right thing but, this isn't it."

"What do you mean by that? You love her don't you?"

"Mom, I've been suffering for almost 5 years now. The only reason why I'm with Lydia is because you wanted me to marry a girl. I'm gay mom...I'm sorry..."

My mom was shocked, as anyone would be. Tears dropped from her eyes then she embraced me tightly.

"Alec, are you with Magnus?"

"What? Why would you think that?" I asked nervously.

"Well...I've been wondering about it because you're always with him, you spend time with him more than you spend time with anyone, you constantly ask how he's doing and so much more. Were you cheating on Lydia the whole time?"

I opened my mouth but nothing came out from it. I didn't know what to say. Maybe I was cheating on Lydia. I never thought about it since I never really loved her. I can't imagine the pain she'll have to go through or if she knows, that'll be worse.

I suddenly cared about her feelings. I just used her the whole time so that my parents would be happy. Now that I told my mom, maybe I won't do it for them anymore. I'll do this for her, I owe her everything.

"I guess I have..."

"Then you don't have to do this. We can stop the wedding. Does Robert know?"

"No, dad doesn't know. Will he bring the girl?"

"He said he wouldn't. For you."

I nodded then I went to my friends. It's been hard for mom ever since she found out my father was cheating. I felt bad too. Including Izzy, Max, and Jace. As I walk up to them Izzy stops me.

"You finally told her?"

"I did."

"So what are we still doing here? Let's leave this place!"

"No Izzy I, I still have to marry her."

"What?! Alec are you insane? I kinda saw you guys talking and it look fine to me. Why will you still marry her?"

"I have my reasons Izzy."

"You know what, you do whatever you want. But she's just gonna get hurt more and more Alec, think about it."

"I'm sorry Izzy...But I'm gonna marry her."

She just nodded then I went to the boys and told them what happened. They didn't want me to explain and they just let me be.

I went to the altar as the wedding began. Everyone was walking down the isle like what they do in all weddings. Then, Lydia came. The doors opened for her and everyone looked at her. She wore a beautiful white dress, braided hair, and flowers on her hand.

She then went next to me then the whole wedding was finally happening. We said our vows, our promises, then the priest asked her first the question. He then turned to me.

"Alexander Gideon Lightwood, do you take this woman, do be your lawful wedded wife?"

"I-"

The doors suddenly opened then Magnus entered. He was in an all black suit. He was looking at me then I heard Izzy tell Jace she invited him here. This is it, this is how I get caught.

"Lydia I-I can't breathe."

"Are you ok Alec? Do you need water?"

"Help me Lydia..." I tried catching my breath.

"Breathe in and out with me alright?"

I nodded then I did what she said. I was able to properly breathe again. I don't know what just happened. Everyone asked me if I was alright then I stood up straight, took Lydia's hands and answered the priest's question.

"I do."
