13. Fire

Finally, bonfire night had arrived and excitement filled the air. But also sadness did, because today is the last day of Scott and Jake,  Amy has been crying all night and I wonder what will happen when Reece and I will have to say goodbye but it's no the right time to think about that. 

"Girls, I have good news" Hannah shouts with a singing voice and we look at her attentively, "Miss Parker won't be tonight at the bonfire, so you could be with your boys without fear, and that's means you, Amy." she points out and Amy laughs as shakes her hand.

"And why is that?"

"She's afraid of fire, I don't know why. But let's not think about that and have a good time." Hannah says as she gets out of the hall, arriving to the bonfire in the background of the youth hostel.

The fire comes to light up the night, the warm air that is more accustomed to the winter chill. It lits each face and they feel the heat go to their core. There are people sitting around the fire, singing songs while others are talking about their things. At a table, there is hot chocolate with various types of snacks to withstand the cold of the night.

"I'm going to look for Scott, I'll see you by the fire."

I grab her arm and turn around, "Bring Jake, please. I'd like to say goodbye to him." Amy nods and disappears into the darkness of the night. When I remember my chat with Scott, I smile with enthusiasm. Amy is going to be so happy.

"Why are you so happy out of nothing?" Hannah inquires with confussion, "Are you happy that you won't see Jake? You're weird." I roll my eyes and grab her to the opposite direction. "What the hell are you doing?"

"I'm not supposed to tell you this. But yesterday, when Miss Parker found me with Scott, he told me that he was going to ask Amy to be his girlfriend. Tonight." Hannah's eyes are wide open when she hears the news. She's about to scream but I cover her mouth with my hands. "Don't. It's a secret and you have to keep it like that"

"What is secret?" a male voice asks behind us. I turn around quickly trying to make up an excuse but I stop when I see the person standing now in front of us. Jake. "Amy said that you were looking out for me?" I nod and  jump into your arms. He grabs me instantly and spins me in the air. Somehow, I end up on his back with my arms around his neck and my legs held by his strong arms.

"C'mon Jake, lead me the way to my friends" I shout and burst into laughter when I hear him complain. God, I'll miss him so much. We get to where Amy is with Hannah, Scott and the boys.

Reece's gaze is directed at me but it hardens with jealousy when he sees Jake. At the moment, Jake drops me gently on the floor and I go to where Reece is sitting still looking at Jake. I'm about to sit next to Blake when Reece grabs me by the hips and sits me on his lap. I put my arm around his shoulders and when I have his full attention, I lean down to kiss him on the lips. One of his hands caresses my thigh while using the other to lean on the trunk.

I pull away to breathe and I open my eyes and see Reece with his mouth split staring at me, maybe from surprise. And that's when I realized that it's the first time we've kissed in public.

"I really didn't expect that. Isn't your teacher nearby?"

"No, I just..." I try to explain myself but Reece breaks the distance that separated us to kiss me again. He kisses me gently as if he wanted to keep this moment in his memory forever. I curse my breathing when it forces me to break the kiss. I try to hide the smile that is about to appear on my face, Reece is so affectionate.

"And why is that?" I ask him once that our breaths have returned to normal.

"Can't I kiss my girl?" Reece asks with a smirk.
