When Cooper walked in I didn't stop and stare. I'm only in to Asian guys. He wasn't missing out on anything when he didn't receive my loving stare. He was attractive enough but I didn't see what was so great. The last I saw him he went into Jasmine's room with her. Whore. She knows how to get into guys pants in like, five minutes. I don't really care though. The first time I met him in person was at volleyball. Our house had a team but we only played against each other. I saw Cooper and Jasmine walking by the courts, not in any hurry.

"CAMILLE" she yells from across the yard. I roll my eyes and slump over to her. I don't want any of her shit right now; I'm really tired still.

"Is it important?" I ask trying to sound as annoyed as I can. She disregards my mood and carries on.

"This is Cooper. I think you guys would get along ok" I'm actually surprised. I don't know what got into her head that she thinks I would like him.

"Why don't you join us" I say. This is my pathetic attempt at trying to acquaint myself. He reluctantly agrees and walks onto the sand. I try talking to him in between passing.

"So what is your gift?" I ask "Or do you even know yet?" I have to dive for a serve from the other team before he can answer.

"Well I think it might be giving people seizures" he says innocently.

"That's too specific. I would think its something like control over death involving the mind. I'm probably not the best at explaining these things."

He set the dirty white ball really well for someone who hasn't played before, but then again I don't know if he ever played. Natalie hits the ball over straight to the ground.

"That was a really good set! Have you played before?" I actually want to know. He could be a good player.

"I played a little when I was younger. It was the only sport I really cares to play." He replied with a smirk.

"Well you seem to like this. Can you hit?" I'm kind of annoyed at his cockiness. It would make me happy to see him fail.

"Let's see" he said in a more modest tone. He could probably sense the annoyance in my voice. I just started the ball on our side and passed it to Caroline. She set it good and high. On its decent Cooper reached up and smacked it down with his left hand.

"Damn. You're pretty good huh" I'm very disappointed. I really wanted him to fail miserably. He is very good though. "I didn't know you were left handed. You are the one and only leftie on the team. Congrats."

"Thanks?" He sounds confused but I know he knows I'm joking.

"After this game I'll tag along on your tour." I'm surprised they actually wait for me, but after twenty minutes they're still talking.

"Ok let's go" I yell at them. We head into the side exit of the house.

"This is the east wing" Jasmine explains to Cooper who isn't listening. I see that he's looking at the small room. We call the headmistress' office the small room.

"What is she doing" he asks.

"That's Amelia, the headmistress of the school. Some days, she sits in the middle of her room chanting quietly to herself. Nobody really knows if it does anything." I never got why she did this, but she must have her reasons. I follow Jasmine and Cooper around for another half hour. She mostly explains how you go to the classes fit for your power, and that he could pick up info on information about independent study from Ms. Amelia. We eventually reached the library. This was the coolest part of the house I think. There were bookshelves 20 feet high, packed with all kinds of incantations, spells, and just regular books.

"I'm going to go back outside" I say. I was bored of them and I had more volleyball to play.
