|Harper|

After a few more days of titillating banters with Ethan, I felt that it was time to tell him the truth about how I felt. I had thought through a million scenarios while quietly pacing in my room.

He'd been a bit busy those past two days looking for a new job, so I had extra time to process my feelings. And my feelings were legit— I wasn't just dickmatized. Yeah, my lady parts still went crazy over him, but those butterflies in my stomach were getting pretty rowdy too.

"Harper!" Ethan called from outside of my room. I smiled to myself and stopped pacing, getting warm all over. I took a deep breath and opened my bedroom door. He wasn't directly outside my door; he was in the living room.

"What's up?" I asked casually as I walked up to him.

"You're lookin' at Pro Skate's newest employee," he semi-sang, pointing at himself.

"Ethan, that's great! Come here," I held my arms open and he gave me a hug. It lingered for a while before I pulled away. He was acting strange again... Why hadn't he pulled away? "So, when do you start?"

"Next week, but enough about work. I need your help finding Donny a birthday gift."

"His birthday is in two days," I chuckled.

"I know, I'm late. Can you please help me?" He gave me puppy dog eyes, making me melt.

"Fine. Let's go."

_

"You have any idea what you wanna get him?" I asked as we walked through the mall.

"No idea. That's why I asked you to help," he smiled at me.

I rolled my eyes, "Let's go to the music store then." Ethan nodded and we took the escalator to the top level. We walked straight to the music store. There were guitars hung up on the walls and random instruments everywhere. I stood in front of the rack of guitar straps and picked up one that stood out to me most. "Eth."

He turned around from a bucket of guitar picks with one in his hand. I walked over and he held the guitar pick up to the strap. They matched perfectly.

He grinned, "This is fuckin' perfect, Harp."

"Then buy them. He'll love 'em."

He furrowed his brows, "What are you gonna get him then?"

"I already got his gift," I laughed. He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. "Come on Mr. Last Minute, let's pay and get outta here." We went to the register and Ethan paid for the gifts. They even gave us a cute little gift bag for them.

We left the store and I started getting nervous. We were alone together and in one of my favorite places. What better time would there be for me to confess my feelings? I was gonna just get on with it, but my stomach grumbled.

"You wanna hit the food court?" Ethan inquired. "I'm starving."

I nodded, "Just what I was about to ask." Ethan grabbed my hand and I nearly jumped out of my body. He was holding my hand. In public.
