5:30It was time to go. The school began to clear out but instead of walking towards the front gate like the other students, Larry walked towards the back of the school. The sun was setting and the sky seemed red with countless warnings. But he was used to this, he wasn't a newbie anymore.
Larry only clutched the strip on his satchel harder and walked across the football field to the shed in the back corner. He hesitated when he reached for the handle, his hand seemingly refusing as it hovered in the air. He guessed he took too long because the metal door slammed open and he was pulled into the darkness quickly. With his back pushed against the door and the handle digging into his already pained back, he squirmed in scared anticipation. All he could hear was calm breathing and his near hyperventilation.
"Look at you all scared," Mr. Shin laughed as he turned on the single lightbulb in the center of the room and illuminating his face. He looked drastically different now that he didn't have to mask his true self. His appearance was perfect but his smile was menacing. "My little Larry. You know you look the best like this, I love the effect I have on you. It's just a shame that you aren't as fresh as the first time."
Taking off his suit jacket, he continued, "But that's okay, you still taste the same. My own slice of Heaven." Loosening his tie, Mr. Shin walked over to Larry and slid his hands on either side of the boy. "All mine." His smiled widened as he leaned over Larry, his tall frame easily towering the equally tall student.
Larry showed no emotions on his face but his body fought back against the ones trying to undress him. His hands left scratches and his feet began to kick where ever they could. It didn't work though, Mr. Shin only seemed to enjoy the thrill more laughing hysterically until he was through playing and he struck him across the face.
"A joke. Stop fighting. I'm the only person who cares for you and yet you treat me like this?!?"
Larry raised his head preparing to strike back with the dull comment when he saw it. A hand on Mr. Shin's shoulder. With abnormally long fingers and claw-like nails then hand seemed to be all black, just like a shadow. Larry was frozen in fright because if the hand was that big then he couldn't imagine how big the owner was. As if on cue, a glowing pair of red eyes appeared at least two feet above the teachers head.
"You....," The voice was just as horrifying as the man, it was deep and rough as if the person hasn't spoken in a long time. The voice also sounded as if a thousand people were speaking at once in different times, some in quiet whispers, some in time with the main voice but all collectively distorted.
'The Devil' Larry thought, 'It's the Devil'
Not quite.
Larry's eyes widened. He knew that voice in his head....it was the shadow man!
"Come with me," The figure spoke again, snatching the now struggling teacher as if he was a piece of paper in the darkness in the back of the shed.
Soon Larry was left by himself. He flopped down on the floor in disbelief with all his energy drained. He was preparing to get up and runs when Mr. Shin's piercing screams rang out growing in volume with each breath.
"no... No... NO!!... WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU?!? PLEASE ILL PAY YOU. AHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhh"
His voice when died out... almost like he was snuffed out.
Then slowly the figured appeared again.
"S-stay b-back!" Larry tried to yell but it came out at a small whimper, "please."
The shadow never came closer but it seemed to give off an aura of great amusement. Larry stood up as fast as he could with his long limbs making him look like a newborn deer. He turned to grab his bag when the figure started chuckling. This would have made him work faster if it wasn't for the sound being directly next to his ear. Larry felt like he was gonna faint even going so far as to clutch his chest in panic.
Calm your heart, wild one. I'm not here to hurt you.
Larry's mind was still racing with dark thoughts though. He couldn't even imagine what this thing would do to him, even if he was abused by everyone else... this was on a new level. There's so way he would survive this.
He was so deep in thought he didn't even register the figure muttering in an dead language while his body was pushed into the darkness. When he came too, he was across the street from his house in an dark alley. Instantly recognizing the torn and withered blanket he had put there for when he needed it. He slept here when his parents would lock him out of the house, which was often as they both traveled for work or when they just didn't want him in the house.
Larry stared at the blanket, it was getting old and he knew it smelled because his classmates we're overly loud with their complaints about it but it was his. A small home that he had made for himself and he loved the little thing. It was a safe haven.
I can fix it
Larry jumped, having forgotten about that demon- shadow thing.
You'll have to stay the night here again. Your parental beings aren't at home.
"H-how do you know that?"
Larry felt amusement roll off the shadow again. He was amazed that he could even tell since he couldn't even see anything other than the man's eyes.
Their scent is gone.
Nodding Larry turned back towards the blanket and watched as it healed itself. Every hole was patched and every strand was sewed up, even the stains were gone. It was like the blanket was washed and handed to him brand new. Larry smiled while inspecting every inch of the blanket. It had been the first time he's smiled a genuine smile in years. Even the figure couldn't help but stare at the boy.
"Thank you," Larry breathed out.
The figure only grunted, and raised a clawed hand. He manifested a little cover to shade Larry from the impending rain and completed it with a raised small bed to keep the wild one off the cold and soon to be wet ground. It was long enough for Larry's growing height but small enough to still be hidden from those passing through. He even added a pillow for the human boy.
Larry didn't even hesitate in taking off his shoes and laying down, he was mesmerized by his new personal hole in the wall. He absolutely loved it. He had never had his own room, let alone, a bed or even a pillow. He was shaking with so much excitement that he forgot how scared he once was of the one who made all this possible.
Once he remembered that he needed to thank the man, he sat up quickly and looked everywhere for the piercing red eyes. Larry didn't know why he was looking so desperately but he needed to find the him. Standing up, he walked around searching but he had seemed to disappear.
Larry was beginning to get worried so he ran into the darkest corner in the alley knowing that he could find him there. He couldn't see much making him to stretch his hands were blindly feeling around when he was grabbed quickly until and spun around. Gently he was pushed back towards his small bed.
Stay there. I'll protect you from here.
