After what had happened at my house, we had made our way back to the hospital. Dan got in quite a bit of trouble and I was re-admitted in the hospital.
- Forensics are searching the area around your house and looking for evidence as we speak
- Was I right about the flowers?
- You were and you did well, you are no longer the lead suspect in the case.
I felt relieved yet clueless about everything that was happening. Was there someone in my house while we were living there? How didn't I notice? So many questions were spinning around in my head.
- I feel sick...
I got up and ran to the small bathroom in the corner of the room to throw up everything I had in my stomach. Dan followed me in the bathroom and brought the hook holding my drip closer to me.
- Are you alright kid?
- Do I look okay?
- To be honest, you are doing well, most junkies can't move for a few days after stopping, yet you have been able to move around
- Yeah, I don't think that was a good idea...
Susan came into the room while I was still in the bathroom with my head above the toilet. She had a blanket and pillow in her arms. She comes over to us and hands what she was holding to Dan.
- How reckless can you be?! He is supposed to rest and stay medicated for it to be easier on him! This is your fault Dan.
- Yeah, I know...thanks for the blanket and pillow
-... As long as you know, you can sleep on the couch if you want but it isn't very comfortable.
- It will be fine, what is the folder for?
- Oh! I nearly forgot, I have a few questions for Josh.
I got up and moved to my bed to lay back down, Susan modified the drip a bit to make it go slower.
- Your results from your tests have come back... I have never seen anything like them.
- What is that supposed to mean ?
- Well... you have built an immunity to the drugs.
- Isn't that good?
- Not necessarily. The effects that drugs are supposed to have on you are modified or have disappeared... but what is more terrifying is that to build an immunity you have to consume a huge amount of different drugs for a very long time. Looking at the tests, you have been taking drugs since you were 4 or possibly earlier.
- That isn't possible.
- I have a few questions for you concerning this, have you ever tried to stop?
- No.
- Do you have any idea of when you could have started?
- Not really, but I would have guessed at about 8 or 9 years old.
- So after the accident?
- Yes.
- We had guessed the same to begin with since your mother may have forced you to take things when she went insane.
- She wasn't insane, she was just depressed.
Why am I sticking up for her? She is dead now, and you could probably think of her as insane.
