That is right... I didn't know her name but I knew her. Sarah Cliffhood, everything started with her.
Dan was in the room with Sarah, her mother and her lawyer, while Dan was asking her questions about what she was doing that evening and explaining that my mother was murdered. I on the other hand, was behind the one-way glass screen, listening to their conversation.
She was one of the last people I talked to from school before everything went south.
- So Miss Cliffhood to sum it up, you were not at home the evening when the Winter's house was broken into. You state you were at a friend's place, I hope you are telling us the truth, since I will be taking a statement from your friend later. You know Josh Winter because you shared classes with him. What did you think of him?
- He is so weird... I would even say creepy?
- How so?
- He would always turn up late at school and was always by himself. He would go up on the roof during breaks even though no one was allowed up there. There were rumours that he went up there to smoke or take drugs and that he was a drug dealer.
- Did you believe those rumours?
- I don't know... his complexion makes it easier to believe that he takes drugs, but I wouldn't say he was a drug dealer. He is just too quiet and awkward to be able to approach anyone.
- I see.
- Actually to be honest, I find him quite cool. He is so mysterious and really handsome.
- Did you ever tell him?
- No, I didn't, he didn't even remember my name... he felt so far away even though we had already eaten together and were sitting next to each other. He didn't notice me.
- Anything else that seemed unusual?
- No, I don't think so.
- Well, we will see if your alibi fits with the one from your friend, we have also got a search warrant for your house to see if we can find anything.
- You can do that?
- Of course. You will have to wait at the station for a while, we are going to check the information you gave us.
Dan left the interrogation room and came to join me
- Well?
- Yeah, I know her, just didn't know her name.
- What about the really handsome bit? She may have a thing for you.
- Ew, I don't think so after everything else she said. What do you think?
- I think she was there.
- What?
- The night we were at your house, I think it was her.
- But why?
- We will get the answers once we check her alibi and search her house. Want to come?
- To search her house? Can I?
- I'll make it work later, don't worry.
Dan grabbed his phone from his pocket and called someone while we started to make our way to the car. He was smiling while talking to them.
- It doesn't check out. Her friend states that she was at her house for a couple of hours, but then went back home. Yet her mother said earlier that she only came home the next morning.
