Keezia was reading a book quietly to herself while Emumma the Ellama was jamming out to one of the greatest bands of all time The 1975. Rochel was busy watching something on a laptop and Edna was continuously glancing at her phone. As if she was waiting for someone to call or text her. Everyone else in the group was in the library but Jordan the Guy was sick so Emumma the Ellama was sad. Lytton had been quite distant lately but did show up to remind Keezia he was picking her up separately for Edna's family reunion. Everyone else was just gonna show up but he wanted to take her out on a date beforehand.
Brabra and Joshua were both in the music room. Romantically singing together and playing the piano while stealing soft kisses.
The bell rang and the group split up, Edna walking to her advanced Calculus class and pushed her glasses further up her nose. Clutching her books tightly in one hand.
She hurriedly scribbled down notes as she sat throughout the class. Waiting for the bell to ring again and signal the end of the day. Once she heard the glorious noise she left the room shouting a thank you to the teacher over her shoulder.
As she skipped out of the school grounds she thought of her new friends but her mind kept drifting back to the boy who had yet to reply to her. When she got home she knew she would have to help prepare food for on Saturday when they had the reunion but she wasn't in the mood. She was in one of her artist moods. So she took a detour and headed in the direction of the alleyways. This part of town was less crowded and more dangerous. She slung her bag over her shoulder and could hear the clanking of the cans inside. As the girl grew closer to her normal spot the sky began to darken, the sun slipping lower in the sky. The world began to whisper softly, birds humming a gentle melody. Finally, the girl reached her wall. The wall was covered top to bottom in beautiful designs. Paintings of her friends and family members. A few of Timothee. Some puppies here and there. It was truly beautiful.
The girl reached into her bag and pulled out the mask she normally wore. In case the police or someone else saw her. Around this side of town she had an alter ego. No one knew it was her who painted this wall. Edna pulled out her speaker and began to play some music. Blasting it loudly to try and push her into the creative spirit. She got out her spray cans and began to paint. She painted a sunset. With violent orange and pink. She painted a river. With vibrant blue and green. The girl was so absorbed in her work she did not notice the boy watching her.
Suddenly the music was turned down and the girl whipped backwards, cans ready to fight in case it was someone bad. Turns out it was just Gryffin. But she did not know Gryffin as her alter ego. So she had to play it cool.
"Who are you?" Edna said, attempting to speak in a deep voice.
"I'm Gryffin, your works amazing by the way. I come here all the time to look at your stuff," The boy replies while holding his skater skate board in one hand.
"Oh that's nice," Edna answered, unsure of what to do.
"It is, and I love when the sun is just the write height in the sky which makes this little alleyway light up," He spoke with such wisdom and vulnerability, quite unlike his normal language.
"That is true," Edna looked at him through her sunglasses. Admiring his lush hair and how it blew slightly in the wind. His face that was sprinkled with small freckles only visible up close. His dazzling smile the blinds the elderly.
"I have a problem," The boy spoke as he came closer and sat on the ground by her bag. Leaning against the wall.
"What happens if there's this girl you like and you're really into her. Like she's so amazing you can't describe it. But you don't want to rush things in case you scare her." He looks up at her and their eyes meet.
Edna shrugs. Unsure of how to reply. On the inside she hopes it's her she speaks of. But a voice is telling her not to get her hopes up. After all, someone as amazing as him could never love someone like her.
"And what happens when you compliment them all the time but they can never seem to see themselves in your own eyes. They don't see how beautiful they truly are,"
Once again, Edna didn't know how to reply.
"I know who you are," The boy whispers softly, almost afraid to break the calmness of the area.
"You do?" Edna questioned, confused on how he knew.
"You literally paint your friends," The boy says while pointing to the wall. Edna giggles slightly.
Gryffin stands abruptly. Walking towards her until he's right in front of her. Breathing the same air.
Delicately, he lifts the mask off of her face. His smile wide as he looks at her.
"Gosh you're breath taking," He mumbles as he cups her cheeks.
Edna blushes bright pink and the boy's smile widens.
He rests his forehead against hers and looks into her eyes.
"I really like you Edna, and I'm excited to meet your family at the reunion." Edna smiles at him so big it hurts.
"Maybe, you can introduce me to them as your official boyfriend?" He questions, kind of afraid of her rejection.
Edna's eyes widen to the size of saucers.
"You're asking me out?" She questions. Receiving a nod in reply.
"Yes, oh my gosh one hundred percent yes," She states and he laughs joyfully.
"YES!" Gryffin screams making Edna laugh out loud.
"Can I kiss you?" He asks her with rosy cheeks. Edna nods shyly and the boy swoops down to capture her soft lips with his.
