"How's your head doing?" he asked as we sat at a table in the nearest diner to my house.

"You know, its getting all healed but hurts horribly," I said nonchalantly so he wouldn't worry, as if he would.

After a few minutes of talking, a waitress came over and asked for our orders. George and I ended up getting the same drink, an iced tea.

After she left, we forgot what we were talking about before, so I awkwardly looked in a different direction.  I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw that George was looking at me.

"What? Is there something on my face?" I asked in embarrassment figuring there was.

George's POV

" Uh, yeah I'll get it." I said, just rubbing the side of her face with my thumb to make it seem as if I was getting something off.

"Thanks." she said giving a shy smile.

Ugh, that smile! I wanted to kiss her on the spot, but of course I couldn't, I knew she wouldn't like me, not with the way she looked at John when we walked over at first.

I still had one troubling thing on my mind. The camera. I mean I got it for her but she made it obvious she wouldn't take it and I could not take a decent picture to save my life.

"So when's your birthday?" I asked hoping it would be soon, so the camera could be a gift or something.

"Not until next March." She replied nonchalantly.

Darn it.

Jeanette's POV

Just to save us from more awkwardness, the waitress came to us with our drinks.

"Sorry for the wait, do you know what you would like to get to eat?"

"I'll have a sandwich please" George said, and after she got all the details for his sandwich she turned to me.

"I'll have a garden salad please, dressing on the side."

"No problem, I will get those out as soon as possible." She said with a nod before leaving.

"I see we have a veggie lover." he said snickering a bit.

"And?" I asked, with a giggle.

"Well I'm not sure really." he said becoming serious before he snickered a bit more. "Why do you got to ruin my fun?"

"Because..." I waved for him to lean in so I could tell him a secret, "I'm part of the undercover fun police." as he moved to look at me I started nodding my head before I bursted into a laughing fit.

From the little bits I could see in between laughs he was staring at me like I was mad.  Crap, I thought it would help break the tension, but I did the opposite.  Wow, good going Jeanette.

I quickly shut up and looked down at my twiddling thumbs, embarrassed about my laughing fit. Real good job.
