I can't believe this. He really does like me! I'm not some weird girl who has no coordination and should be pitied.
When he pulled his lips off mine, I let out a smile and opened my eyes to see his brown eyes gleaming as he stepped off my porch. He said goodbye and walked off looking back, every few steps, at me until he was out of sight.
I walked inside my house and took a shower. I changed into my pajamas, a tank top and shorts, and made tea to try and calm the fluttering butterflies in my stomach. Just as soon as I had poured my cup of tea, and turned off the stove my phone began to ring.
"Is there a Jeanette Kilton there?," George asked.
"This is her."
"I called to ask when you would want to go out?"
"Tomorrow night at 8 would be fine."
"Alright tomorrow at 8 it is." I will pick you up, but no questions about where we are going. Alright?"
"Alright."
"Ok, well I got to go, the boys are calling me, oh, and you need to meet Paul at the clothing store. He will call you later to tell which one. Well, see you tomorrow."
"Okay bye."
"Bye." He said before hanging up the phone. I walked to my room, where I read the last few pages of my book and finished my tea before brushing my teeth and falling asleep.
I woke up at about seven and heard my phone ringing. I answered it and got all the details from Paul.
I ran back up the stairs and got dressed. I decided on a light creme sweater and black leggings since summer had ended and it was starting to get colder. I curled my hair and did my every day make up, tan eye-shadow, semi thick black eyeliner, black mascara, and some foundation.
I drove off and after I entered the fashion area of the New York streets, I pulled up by the store I was supposed to meet Paul at.
After I had parked the car, I walked into the store to see Paul reading a newspaper. As soon as Paul saw me, he walked up to meet me.
"Why hello Jeanette, ready to find something to wear for tonight?"
"Yeah, I guess."
He then led me to a clerk as he sat down by the dressing rooms.
I followed the clerk to the clustered racks as she piled dresses upon dresses on my arms. After about 20 minutes of stacking dresses I was sent to the dressing rooms. I tried on dress after dress, but only showed a few. One of my favorite dresses was a navy blue dress that went a little past the knee. I showed Paul but he wasn't too impressed.
"Its nice, but not it."
I ran back into the dressing room and after a countless number of dresses, I found the perfect one.
This dress was a beautiful. The top half was a very light creme with a strapless top and little gold designs, while the bottom half was white and popped out a bit. The dress went just under my knee and when I walked out, Paul's jaw nearly dropped.
"Does it look good?"
"It- you- it looks beautiful." he said stunned at my appearance.
"Really? Will George like it?" I twirled a few times so he could see if it didn't look right in any spots.
"I know he will." I could feel my face glow at his answer.
As I was walking back I heard Paul say to himself "George is a lucky man, he better treat her right or he will lose her fast." I smiled at the fact that Paul had said such a nice thing about me as I kept walking towards the dressing room.
Once I got inside the dressing room I changed into my original clothes. I then decided to look at the price of the dress to see what the damage to my pocket book would be.
I rushed outside and told the clerk that I wished to speak to Paul alone.
"I'm sorry I can't afford this. Not a $500 dress. Its too much."
"You do know George sent me in here, not only to make sure the dress looks good, but to buy the dress."
"Didn't you hear the price? $500?"
"Yes, I did, and he said I couldn't take no for an answer." As he said this he snatched the dress from me and ran to the cashier and bought the dress.
I walked over and grabbed the bag containing the dress as Paul just walked.
"Would you like some lunch?" He asked me as we walked.
"I could eat." With that we walked over to some cafe and got sandwiches and coffee.
We sat outside and watched the cars roll past as we ate our lunch. We also talked about various topics. Once we finished I said goodbye to him and I headed back to my car.
I arrived home at about 3 and watched the television as drifted off into a deep slumber. I awoke at about 6 and took a shower before I slipped on my new dress. I reapplied my makeup before re-curling my hair, deciding it looked good with the dress. I also put a pair of tan heels on as the doorbell rang. I ran down stairs and opened the door to reveal George in a nice suit and a bouquet of flowers. My heart stared beating fast again and I felt butterflies once again. I let him in and his reaction was similar to Paul's, only his jaw really did drop.
"Does it look okay?"
"Yea-yeah." was all he could get out. After a few seconds he was out of his "trance" and handed me the flowers.
"Aw thanks George," I said giving him a kiss on the cheek as I headed to kitchen to put the flowers in a vase.
"Are you ready?" He asked as he started to head towards the door.
"Yeah."
"Alright lets go." he said as we headed out the door.
