-----------------------------------------------------

The trip to the airport was long and brutal. Joshua took down the necessary zombies, which were mostly Regulars. Bethany had suggested that we take the back roads to try and avoid any contact with Raiders, which was heard not too long ago.

"Where's the airport at?" Bryan asked. "It's close, right?"

"It's a private airport in eastern Pensacola," Bethany said. "Fortunately it's not too far from here."

Bryan sighed in relief. He looked at the map on the touch screen to see how much longer they had, and it said that there were only seven more minutes until they arrived. He was also satisfied that Joshua didn't have to gun down any more zombies. Hearing the gunshots simply gave him bad memories.

A little while later, Joshua announced that they've finally arrived at the airport. He saw a small jet sitting near a storage barn. Bryan guessed it was the plane that they'd be taking.

"Here we are," announced Bethany. "Let's hurry, now. We don't want to be here for very long."

Bryan was now curious. "Why not? Is something about to happen?"

"Once we start the plane, nearby zombies are going to hear it. It'll cause chaos," Joshua said.

As they got out of the truck, Bethany turned to Bryan. "He's right. That's also why so many airports have shut down. As planes were trying to take off, huge hordes of zombies would swarm the airport, and the soldiers immediately get overwhelmed."

Bryan's heart jumped in his chest. "So how are we able to take off?"

Before anyone could answer him, two men dressed in a dark blue uniform with an unfamiliar logo ran up to them. One of them looked at me, then back to Joshua. "You found a survivor. Good work you two."

"Thanks, guys," Joshua said. "Let's get out of here before a horde comes. You know it takes forever to take off."

The other man nodded. "Roger that. The pilot is already in the pit. You're welcome to hop in whenever you guys are ready to go."

Bryan shook hands with the two men and boarded the plane. The pilot introduced himself as Travis, and he looked surprisingly calm about everything, which, made Bryan feel calmer. After they buckled in, the jet suddenly came to life. Out of the window, Bryan saw the horde that Joshua had warned everyone about. Bloodthirsty Regulars came out of the woods straight for the jet. His eyes grew wide as he watched them get closer. Thankfully, the jet started to lurch forward and onto the runway. As the plane began to speed down the long road, Bryan tried to relax, with some success.

Then Travis's voice came onto a PA system. "Attention ladies and gents, we have officially taken off and reached cruising altitude. It is currently 4:33 in the afternoon, and we will arrive in Memphis at around 6. Have a good flight, brave soldiers!"

Bethany, who was sitting across from Bryan, smiled. "You okay?"

Bryan nodded. "Yeah, I'm okay." After a minute of silence, Bryan realized that his question was never answered, thanks to those two guys that greeted them at the airport. "So, how were we able to take off?"

Joshua looked confused. "What do you mean?"

"You said that the airports were being shut down due to zombie hordes attacking the area," he said. "So why did they let us fly out?"
