My Beloved Daughter
Unknown Date & Time
Current Location: Monroe, LA
——————————————————Amelia was in a daze since that happened. She ran to her parents, and they took her away from there. She saw innocent people getting torn to shreds. She even saw Riley...no, Amelia didn't want to think about that. Never again.
The Davidson's were constantly on the move for what seemed like forever. When they arrived back home, they found it completely destroyed except for a few of their belongings remained intact. Clothes were salvaged from it, but not much else.
"How did it get like this so quickly?" Amelia's mom asked once. Nobody had an answer for it. Amelia didn't think anybody would ever have an answer to that specific question.
Around three months passed, and Amelia's family found refuge in her grandparent's old house in Monroe, Louisiana that was abandoned even before the apocalypse began. Most of everything was still intact, surprisingly. The floors were filthy and the bathroom reeked, but nothing else was too out of the ordinary.
"We'll stay here for now, okay?" her father said then. Amelia just wished that he held up to it.
Amelia said nothing, which was the case in all of the small conversations and arguments that's happened before. How could she? Amelia witnessed things that nobody should ever see in their entire lives. People's heads getting snapped off like a toothpick, blood pouring out of bodies like crimson waterfalls.
A couple of nights later, Amelia had a hard time sleeping. It's been like this since the game, and when she was able to fall asleep, her dreams would do nothing but haunt her. She'd wake up in cold sweats, then cry about it in her pillow. Typically, the girl would go to her parents and talk about them, but that seemed like a bad idea. They weren't in the best state of mind, and she simply didn't want to make that situation worse.
She looked at the nightstand. It held an old book that Amelia had never heard of, and she didn't really have much interest either. Her phone also lay dead on it as well. She also wished that she was able to text Riley, but that was impossible. She was dead, after all. Maybe even Trinity, after the scuffle they had right before the game started. But knowing her, she'd probably have nothing to do with her.
Amelia's thoughts drifted back to the game. If none of that even happened, who would've come out victorious? Her team, possibly? A lesser chance, but with her pitching skills and Trinity's batting skills, along with Riley's quickness, they certainly had a chance. What about the Green Wave? They almost seemed unstoppable during the regular season, so they could've easily trampled them.
She sighed and picked up the phone off the nightstand and stared at it. Later, Amelia attempted to turn it on, but the low battery sign flashed on it, begging for its juice that she didn't have for it.
What about Jake? Amelia hadn't even seen him at the game, which made her wonder about him. Again, it was true that Amelia liked him, but she didn't really have much desire to actually be with him. In school, they talked off and on and developed somewhat of a friendship. Amelia even went to a few of his games with her friends, and he was certainly good. He'd throw touchdown after touchdown, and everyone cheered wildly every time when her team scored.
For some reason, that brought her to the present. What was next? What was going to happen? At the time, she had no clue. Her parents seemed to be on the edge of going crazy, and she was stuck in the middle of it all. Amelia remained mute, not saying a single word.
Then, she heard rustling coming from her parent's room. Slow and quiet footsteps could be heard from a small distance. Suddenly, her door opened, and she immediately closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep like she should be. To her surprise, she felt her mother's soft lips pecking her forehead, and she walked out, closing it behind her.
