I walked into the grill with Elena, before she brought me over to a table with three teenagers. They all stared at us, wonder showing in their eyes.
"Guys, this is Layla. Layla, these are my friends Caroline and Bonnie and this is my boyfriend Stefan." Elena introduced, and I smiled.
"Nice to me you guys." I commented, and they nodded.
"You're so pretty." Caroline gushed, as she hugged me.
I wasn't one to hug people, so her hugging me made me feel uncomfortable.
"Nice to meet you as well." Bonnie said, before shaking my hand.
She seemed to freeze and flinch a little, before looking at me with horror in her eyes.
"Who are you?" She asked, looking at me with terror filled eyes.
"Bonnie!" Elena exclaimed, before Bonnie shook her head, seeming to release herself from the trance she was in.
"Sorry." She murmured, before Stefan stood in front of me.
"Hello, Layla." He said, as he shook my hand.
As I shook his hand and looked into his eyes, I could feel his intense gaze. I knew he was trying to figure out why Bonnie was so rude. He wouldn't be able to figure it out though, unless he talked to her. As I thought about her look of horror, I knew she had seen shit from my past. We all sat down at the table, before a blonde guy who introduced himself as Elena's friend Matt, took our orders. As they chatted, I caught a glimpse of Bonnie staring intensely at me every so often. Only one word came to mind as she stared at me. Witch.
After eating the food I ordered, I decided to order takeout for Sam and Dean. As I was waiting for their food to get done, my phone began to ring. Stefan let me out, before I stepped behind a wall, trying to speak without people eavesdropping.
D - Where are you?
L - I'm at the grill getting breakfast for you two.
D - Sam said you went to that house.
L - I did.
D - Did you find anything?
L - Yeah, the ghost is some old hag. She had her throat slashed. She attacked me, threw me against a book case, but I got away. I'm waiting for Sam to find some story to go with the house or the woman.
D - You should see if you can find anything on who had owned that property up until it became abandoned; see if her death was documented or not.
L - I'll do that, while Sam takes care of research and you take care of snooping.
D - Alright, hurry back. I'm hungry.
L - I know. I'm grabbing food now. See ya.
D - Bring me some pie!
I hung up the phone with a slight chuckle, before slipping it into my coat pocket. I walked back over to the table, seeing the takeout was waiting at the table.
"I took care of the bill." Stefan said, as he seemed to study me.
"Thanks, but I could've paid." I replied, causing him to smile, fakely may I add.
"It's fine. I got it." He commented, and I sighed.
"Elena, I've got to meet up with my brothers. I'll see you later maybe." I announced, and Elena nodded.
"Alright, I'll see you later. Come by the house and hangout tonight if you want." She replied, and I smiled.
"I'll have to check in with my brothers, but I'll let you know." I answered, before leaving the grill.
I got into Dean's car, before driving back down to the hotel. I grabbed the bag of takeout, bringing it inside to my brothers. I laid it on the table, before handing it out to them.
"So, I searched all over the place, and I actually found a file about the lady who died in that house. Her name was Mary Hymin. She was a widower with no children. She was murdered thirty years ago, apparently it was a burglary gone wrong. Anyway, the assailant was never caught by police, though he was found about two months later dead in his car. He apparently died from a drug overdose." Sam stated, and we nodded.
"Well, guess I don't have to find anything else about the lady." I commented, but Dean shook his head.
"Actually, we need to investigate the house, see if we can find anything that she's connected to." Dean said, and I bit my lip.
"The house seemed pretty much empty, except for shelves and furniture." I replied, causing Dean to sigh.
"There has to be something, she can't just be connected to nothing." Dean argued, causing me to shrug.
"I don't know, she could be connected to the house itself." I retorted, causing Dean to purse his lips.
"Even though it's not common, Layla has a point. So does Dean though, so we need to search for anything that looks like it would be hers." Sam said, and I nodded.
"Was there anyone who lived there after she died?" I asked, and Sam nodded.
"Yes, but very shortly. They packed up and left once they had realized there was something wrong with the house." Sam answered, and I groaned.
"Well, now we just have to burn everything but furniture so she can't be connected to anything." I stated, and the boys nodded in agreement.
Dean, Sam and I piled into Dean's car, before driving down to the lady's house. Once we were there, we snuck in through the back. We didn't want to be caught by the cops for breaking and entering. Anyhow, we snuck in and had a look around. Dean grabbed a box, before we started throwing things we found into the box.
After almost an hour, we had only found a few things. We had found a doll, a book, and a couple articles of clothing. As I was searching through the bedroom, I found a small bracelet, which I picked up. While I was staring at it, I felt the room become cold. Before I could do anything, I was thrown into a hickory shelf with glass as shelves, before I blacked out...
