Mia stared at Jordyn from across the room with her wine in hand as Jordyn held a now 9 month old Karlee in her arms.
"What do you want Jordyn?" Mia exhaled becoming irritated with her presence that quick.
"Jasper dropped her off. He said that you told him to bring her by." Jordyn said becoming nervous because she didn't want to anger her.
"I did but why didn't he hand her to me?! I told him to let me know when he got here." Mia frowned shaking her head.
Jordyn bounced her niece on her hip not bothering to answer Mia's question. She knew that Jasper didn't want to see Mia. He communicated with her over the phone when it came to their child and he dropped Karlee off on weekends but he'd let Jordyn know when he was outside. He'd started going back to work so he paid his mother to look after Karlee on weekdays to avoid putting her in a daycare. He had Karlee more than Mia because it was evident to him that Mia wasn't trying to be too invested in Karlee. Mia had become so withdrawn from a lot of things and from people. Her behavior had changed drastically but the obsession she'd grown for Jasper and being in love with him hadn't.
For three months she'd been living with Jordyn and for those three months the young woman had been scared to breathe in her own home. She'd noticed some disturbing things about Mia and had even started to wonder if she'd had something to do with Parker's death. Some days Jordyn got off of work and avoided coming straight home because she was so terrified. Three weeks ago Mia had lashed out and threatened her putting a knife to her throat.
All of the built up rage she had inside of her was being released on people who wanted nothing more than to help her. For months she'd thought about how and when she was going to murder the neighbor Jasper had cheated with. She was being smart about the situation because she could've easily killed Loren the same day but knew that the police would have became suspicious. Parker had just died not too long before Jasper had cheated and if Loren had turned up dead that quick the police would link those murders together. Jasper would also suspect her.
"Put her down on the floor to play and leave my room." Mia said dryly.
Without saying a word Jordyn put Karlee down on the floor and exited the room. 9 month old Karlee stared at her mother with curious eyes.
"The fuck are you staring so hard for you little bitch?" A disengaged Mia asked as she squinted her eyes. She felt absolutely nothing emotionally for the child she'd given birth to and it wasn't because she didn't want to. It was simply for the fact that she wasn't allowing herself to. In her past life she'd been a mother and had been taken away from her child. She'd died with one inside of her. She wanted to love Karlee but she looked so much like her father that Mia couldn't help but to hate the innocent baby because just like the man she'd had an affair with before she'd died, Jasper wouldn't choose to do right by her and be with just her.
Mia made a disgusted face mugging Karlee and the baby mimicked her mother like always.
Mia sucked her teeth. Everything Jasper had done wasn't what turned her into this person but the things she'd died carrying with her had. Her spirit was restless because of the hate she felt towards the man who wouldn't leave his wife for her and being cheated on by a new man now that she was reincarnated only added on to the FURY she felt.
Mia rolled her eyes seeing Karlee yawn. The infant had had a tiring fun day with her father and was ready for bed. "I guess you ready for bed. Sitting there yawning like you worked a 9 to 5." She stood up picking Karlee up laying her down in the bed. She took off her shoes and clothes. Karlee was a chunky baby who'd sweat if she had on too many clothes. Jasper made sure that his daughter slept comfortably in nothing but her diaper every night for that reason.
It didn't take long for Karlee to drift off to sleep and for the hour she'd been asleep Mia just watched her. Getting up from the bed she walked out of the room across the hallway to the bathroom. She plugged the tub so that the water she was about to run didn't go out. Turning on the cold water she watched it fill up halfway before turning it off. She walked back across the room staring at a sleeping Karlee for a few seconds before scooping the infant up out of the bed carrying her bridal style to the bathroom. She stood at the tub looking down at the water before looking at her sleeping daughter's face.
"Goodnight Karlee Rae." She kneeled down in front of the tub easing Karlee in.
