A ear spitting yowl echoed through the den. Darkness shot open her eyes, her breath visible in the frigid air. She saw a flash of black fur jump in front of her. She heard her mothers low growl as she realized it was Bloodmoon, baring his gleaming teeth and amber eyes glowing with cruelty.

Cinders was staring up, her sky blue eyes wide with fear. Darkness fell back into the moss as Violet got up. "What are you doing!?" Violet bristled her soft white fur and her tail fluffed up.

"You are too soft, you fox heart!" He raked his claws across Violets face.

"Mama!" Darkness felt as if her heart was about to burst through her chest as her heartbeats got louder and stronger.

Violet rubbed the blood on her muzzle, smearing it. Bloodmoon stepped closer, "I lied, I am from the Tribe of Bloody Claws. I'm their deputy. I'm going to raise the kits to be strong and fearless!" Violet pushed off her hind legs and leaped for his neck with her claws. Bloodmoon dodged and Violet fell with a thump on the den floor. Bloodmoon grabbed her neck in his jaws, she froze. He stood on her back, keeping her pinned. He released his teeth, "Surrender?"

"Never," she leaped up, knocking him to the side. Darkness nestled closer into Cinders gray fur as they kept battling.

Darkness noticed Chaos sitting on the other side of the moss nest, trembling.

Darkness looked back at the bloody cats, Bloodmoon had Violet pinned as blood dripped from his teeth, "Now, do you surrender?"

Violet didn't hesitate, "Yes! Just don't hurt them..." Darkness felt a strong shiver down her ears to her tail tip. I'm not going with that killer! She looked outside the den entrance, it's too scary out there, and what will those cats do?

Bloodmoon got off of Violet, "Good, now grab Cinders." Violet obeyed with a sigh and grab her by her scruff as Darkness's sister was pulled away. She let out a whimper.

As Violet backed away, Bloodmoon looked at Darkness, "You can walk, you weak little thing," he grabbed Chaos and waited at the entrance. The words stung Darkness's heart, she managed to pull herself up and padded to her father. She followed him out into the cold, Leaf-Fall forest. I can't stay with them.

Bloodmoon kept walking deeper into the shadowy forest. Darkness fluffed her fur in the brisk air, her nose began to feel numb. I have a feeling this will be a long walk.

The bright, golden sun began to rise as the trees were white with frost. Darkness felt herself flinch with her cracked pawpads every step. A icy breeze brushed through her fur, her ear tips were stinging and she body trembled. Cinders had passed out, still being carried by Violet. Chaos was padding beside Darkness, as Bloodmoon was far in the lead.

Chaos looked at a Darkness, her eyes squinted with exhaustion, "I hope we stop soon, " Darkness nodded in agreement. Chaos trotted faster past Violet and walked behind Bloodmoon.

"Dad? Can we stop soon please," Bloodmoon glared back at her as Chaos stared at the ground.

Bloodmoon thought for a moment, as the birds echoed in the distance, "...Fine, but not for too long." Darkness halted and collapsed on the hard soil. Her lungs were hurting from icy air. Violet sat on her side and laid Cinders in her belly fur, trying to keep her warm. Darkness's heart sped up as she saw her small, motionless body. Chaos ran over to Violet and snuggled with Cinders.

Darkness sighed and heaved herself on to her short rickety legs, her black fur ruffling. She looked at the sky as streaks of sun rays made the cool frost glisten, I can't stay. She glanced at her weak family, panting in the leaves, I need to find help to save my family.
