"Alright dears, after that mission you both must be very tired. Go ahead and get some rest." Chairperson Erma told the two newest rangers.

"Thank you ma'am." Kate said and started for her shared room.Her room mate quickly caught up.

"Wow you really are tired after saving Svens butt in the highlands arnet ya?" Keith looked at her and his heart quickened when he saw her yawn.

Kate rubbed her eye "Mmhmm....extremely tired." When they walked in the room Kate quickly changed in the bathroom and took her hair down before falling face first on her bed.

Keith chuckled and walked to her bed."Good night Katie " He whispered in her ear and kissed her temple.Sleep well. He walked to his bed ,pulled his shirt off and fell asleep.

Kates dream

"YOUR WORTHLESS!!!!"  Her father yelled and slapped her. Kate whimpered and held her cheek."I'm sorry...I'm not old enough to get it yet..." Her father finished off the beer and threw the bottle at her. Kate ducked and winced." Shut up with your stupid excuses!!!! The next time I need you to get something you get it!!! " Tears rolled down her cheeks."Now you want to cry?! ILL GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO CRY ABOUT !!!!"  She braced herself for the punch but it never came.

Keith was shaking Kate to try and wake her up. What the hell kind of dream Is she having? Kate had told him about her alcoholic father back in school. He promised to always be their for her and protect her. "Come on Kate wake up!"

Finally Kates wet eyes shot open and she bolted up. But Keith stared at her in shock and pain. She had slapped him really hard across the cheek.

Kate looked at him and horror filled her eyes."K-Keith?" She reached to touch his cheek but pulled it back before and held her hand to her chest. She looked away."I-I'm s-sorry."

He shook his head and pulled her into a hug."Its ok Kate. You didn't mean to do it." She nussled into his neck and he felt her tears fall onto his skin. Keith gently rubbed her shoulder and held in his own tears.I've never seen her like this...

Kate finally stopped crying and she pulled her face from his neck."Sorry Keith." She wiped the tears from his neck.

Keith smiled sadly at her and hugged her again." Don't apologise Katie...Now how about we try sleeping again."

Kate nodded and stood up. If I have another bad dream I don't want to bug Keith.

Keith quickly got up and grabbed her hand." Hey where are you going?''

Kate turned to look at him."To one of the empty rooms."

"Why?"

"So I don't wake you again...or hurt you." Kate looked down.I slapped him...hard.

Keith grabbed her chin making her look at him." Stay."

Kates eyes widened." B-but I-"

He cut her off."I want to be their for you Kate." Keith held her hand firmly."When you have these nightmares I want to be the one to wake you up and comfort you."

Kate smiled and a tear ran down her cheek."Thank you Keith...But what if I hurt you again?"

He shook his head and intertwined their fingers." That doesn't matter to me....As long as your ok." He led her back to her bed and laid down first elevated on the head bord.
