"Mr McDuck no! I refuse to make another one! This is for your benefit and mine!" Gyro snapped as Scrooge stared him dead in the eye.
"I did'nae ask, Gyro." Scrooge spoke sternly staring at the frustrating scientist for just a spilt second before slowly turning his head around and walking over to Gyros wide selection of toolboxes as he gathered various tools for......who knows what.
The lab was filled with many of Gyros inventions, most of which turned out to be evil.
For example, a massive globe in which you could locate any of your friends or family like a GPS. Turned out the globe could locate and control whoever it found.
The kids watched their uncle in confusion. Dewey and Webby turned their eyes towards each other as both shrugged. Louie and Huey watched an agitated Scrooge rummage through many toolbox's finding various amount of dangerous tools.
"Uncle Scrooge, what are you doing?" Huey asked as he tilted his head and raised an eyebrow. Usually he had all the answers but even he didn't know what his uncle could possibly be doing.
Scrooge stopped roaming the toolbox's and picked up everything he had gathered, heading for the desk and dumping all the tools on it as he stared into Gyros eyes with a seriousness that made everyone shiver.
The kids stared blankly at every strange object on the desk. Most objects were very familiar to the children but others......not so much.
Webby reached her hand out to study one of the strange tools but Scrooge's cane slammed in front of her hand, preventing her for touching it as the kids looked up at Scrooge in confusion.
Gyro also looked blankly at the tools on the desk before throwing his eyes at Scrooge's, noticing the way Scrooge stared straight through him.
Scrooge spoke no words, instead, he handed Gyro a small blue piece of paper, never removing his eyes from Gyro's.
Gyro raised an eyebrow and took the paper shakily as, after a moment, his eyes focused on the familiar paper.
Gyro studied the paper for a minute as his eyes grew wide and his pupils shrunk. What was Scrooge thinking? There was no way he could build that. No way! No how!
"No. No way." Gyro spoke sternly as he pushed the paper to the desk, allowing the children the chance to study the peculiar blue paper.
What they saw shocked them all. What? What was this? The blue paper showed plans for a ship, but not just any ship......a rocket ship.........the spear of Selene.
The kids eyes grew wide and their pupils shrunk, just as Gyros did. They stared at their uncle in disbelief. What the duck was he thinking?!
"Mr McDuck, with all do respect, you can't put yourself and your family in the same danger you put your niece in." Gyro spoke as he furrowed his eyebrows.
Scrooge grit his beak as his eyes squinted and he held back the tears that threatened to spill. He hated to admit it, he really did, but Gyro was right. He had already put his niece in danger. What was he thinking?! Putting the rest of his family at risk to find the one person he lost. He already knew it would be dangerous before he got the message but he didn't know it would be that dangerous. When he saw the video of her she was.........afraid. Della Duck never gets afraid. Della Duck never tells her family to back down. Something was obviously wrong. Very very wrong.
"Uncle Scrooge......it's okay." Dewey assured his uncle as he placed a gentle hand on Scrooge's arm, smiling softly.
"No." Scrooge muttered, opening his eyes slightly as his eyebrows fell as far as they could go, pointing his eyes at the scientist that stood before him.
"What?" Dewey asked softly, taking a step back as worry flew threw him like a jet. What was Scrooge doing?
"No." Scrooge muttered, a little louder than last time as he stood face to face with his scientist, looking at Gyro with great anger. Everyone could tell by Scrooge's face that he was about to burst but, to everyone's surprise and relief, he managed to contain that anger.
"Now ye listen here Gyro because aye'm gonna say this once and once only." He spoke sternly as great seriousness rushed through his voice.
The kids stared at the old man in disbelief, he had never been this serious before. It was almost as surprising as when they saw how serious Launchpad was during.........the incident. That incident had shocked everyone, all of Duckburg had heard about what happened. It left everyone scarred. A warrior was almost struck down. A friend was almost struck down............a sister was almost struck down. This young girl was a valuable part of this family and she didn't even know it......luckily now she does. They're never going to let her get hurt again.........ever.
Scrooge slammed his index finger into Gyros chest, pushing him back slightly as Gyro stared down at his boss in fear. After all the years he had worked for Scrooge he had never seen him this angry and frustrated. He always hoped he would never see him like this but those hopes flew out the window only seconds ago. Thankfully, to everyone's comfort, Scrooge wasn't losing his temper.........yet.
"Ye are gonna build me another rocket so I can save mi niece and that's final. I don't care if I die tryin'......I'm not givin' up as I did last time......Della is out there and she needs our help......now!"
"But~" Gyro started, pointing an index finger to the sky, however, Scrooge cut him off as he slammed his cane to the ground. "No 'buts!' Ye are gonna build it or I'm gonna find myself another scientist who can. Do Ye understand?" Scrooge asked as his eyes pierced straight threw Gyros soul, pausing for a moment and allowing the scientist to answer.
Gyro stared at his boss with great disbelief and discomfort. He could tell that everything Scrooge had blurted had come from the heart and, let's just say, Scrooge never spoke from the heart. Scrooge had opened his heart.........something he never does.........yet he just did......to save his niece, but could anyone blame him? He had been torn apart by Dellas disappearance more than anyone. He had spent so long searching for and he had spent almost as much time thinking she was dead but yet.........she wasn't. She was alive and in trouble, Gyro couldn't turn down now.........especially after what Scrooge just said.
"Do ye understand?!" Scrooge asked, almost losing his temper at the dumbfounded scientist.
Gyro furrowed his eyebrows as seriousness came flooding through his face like a.........well............flood. He gave a sharp small nod at his boss who mirrored his action and nodded back.
The kids watched, finally happy that the situation had been handled with and, most importantly that things didn't get messy. Scrooge could've gone full rage on Gyro but he didn't, much to everyone's comfort, he kept his cool and pushed his anger to the bottom of the jar he kept it in.
Webby and Dewey also mirrored the adults actions, as did Louie and Huey. Louie turned to Huey and Huey turned to Louie. Webby turned to Dewey and Dewey turned to Webby. As if planned, the kids all nodded seriously to their partner furrowing their eyebrows and allowing a smile to slowly grow.
"Good." Scrooge spoke, turning back to the tools he had smashed to the desk as he slammed his hands down, joining the tools. "I'm goin' to the moon and I'm bringin' mi niece home." He spoke as, once again, he grit his beak and squinted his eyes.
"And I'm coming with you."
