It was certainly a long way back. And that was especially because Lay remembered to follow one of the soldiers' main rules. In case of threat, change the route to the camp, all this to mislead those who could be following them.
Throughout the tiring walk they fought with branches and vines that stood in their way while they tried to get to their destination as quickly as possible. Luhan's condition was not good, the bandages over his shoulder and upper right arm could not contain the bleeding, which was constant. By the time, the top of his uniform was covered in blood, so Luhan insisted on take his shirt off. It was to some extent admirable the stubbornness that the older outlined in that situation, that even dizzy and weak insisted on walking by himself. Lay was still assisting with an arm wrapped around his waist. However, the fact that he stumbled on a growing frequency only showed the accelerated pace his condition was deteriorating. Lay offered to carry him on his back again, but Luhan refused once again. Some time after, Lay decided he'd had enough, he needed to check those wounds carefully.
"If you just could stop bleeding it would be great." Luhan's injuries were even more terrible that Lay imagined. It was nothing more than a bullet graze wound but around the bleeding injury the skin was torn due to the torsion work he did earlier. Fortunately, that had not affected his muscles. Looking around again Lay noticed another anomaly.
"If you don't stop bleeding the bandage will adhere to the injury." He knew they had to return quickly to receive treatment, but how to do that in those adverse conditions?
Lay bit his lips at the fact they were already running against time. He tried to not think Luhan also faces the prospects of being further wounded on that way back. The younger frowned as he clutched Luhan's dry hands.
"It's okay," the older gazed at him between his long, lush eyelashes, his pale skin was covered in sweat as his trembling lips murmuring those and other comforting words.
At that very moment, Lay was pretty much desperate.

It was like any other afternoon. Lunch was prepared at the same time, and as soon as it was finished serving, the smell of cooked rice and roasted vegetables was already filling the canteen.
The head cook, a demanding and somewhat crank middle-aged man exited the kitchen leaving everything in Minseok's hands. Now the Korean could understand them better, sometimes he communicated using Chinese and other through gestures, but he always managed to make himself understood.
After a few minutes serving the hungry soldiers, Minseok saw Kris and Chen entering the canteen. They always arrived early and occupied the table in the far corner of the place, and once there they began to chat face to face, sometimes serious, sometimes anxious, but always at a close distance not allowing anyone to interrupt; and that day was not different. However, Kris's eyes had something different this day as he was looking closely at Chen, who seemed to be talking animatedly about something.
Something like a timid spark that seemed specially pretty on the commandant.
They really seem very close friends, Minseok thought sighing as he got back to work. Suddenly, he could not help to feel alone. He was aware that there, in the camp, nobody was a stranger to him, on the contrary, everyone treated him very well, but it was not easy to him approach people. His shy personality was something he could not easily get rid of. Although he was aware that in his condition as a foreign refugee it was a real luxury to befriend with someone there. Of course, if we talked about the people with whom he could easily engage in a conversation, he could not forget those three, but still he was only close to one of them. And Chen was not exactly the most present friend.
