"Minseok, Minseok. Are you still sleeping?" The nostalgic voice of his mother rang filling the house.
In his unconscious Minseok identified the comfortable bedding and with his sleepily eyes he takes a look on a familiar landscape that confirmed it was his room. It looks like he was dreaming of something terrible... The faint shadow of a thin guy shone hazy in his head. "Minseok!" His mother raised her voice. Minseok rubbed his eyes getting up hurriedly. "I'll be there soon, moom". As he spoiled answered to his mother he get out of the wardrobe dressed in long jeans and a white shirt. "What if it was a dream?" Minseok walked along the corridor to the kitchen trying to remember the content of the dream when he suddenly realized that his body wasn't moving in his own way. His pace decreased as a heavy weight was attached on his legs. "That's strange". At the back Minseok saw his mother but was unable to reach her. "Mom". Minseok called her but she didn't look back. "Mooom". He called once again but his voice seemed not reach the other side. Gradually he had the feeling that his pants and shirt were getting heavier and wet. Taking the skin of his arm the damp flowed. Minseok suddenly turned back and watched. There were puddles along the trail of footprints. At the end of those footprints, he saw in his dream a boy aiming his gun on himself.
Bang, a loud sound of gunshots pierced the silence. Once the boy pulled the trigger Minseok woke up. He raised himself in a hurry and sank again. Without listen to the pain through his body he gets up with no blame and even less sleep. While he was trying to soothing his breath the bloody cold sweat rolling in his palm reminded him the reality. From afar he heard the cries of the birds riding the winds. An old building abandoned, a cold cement floor, humid air. And nothing has changed.
A dream, it was just a dream.
Minseok cover his face with both hands feeling gloomy. When the rain ceased a very static silent screened around. How much did he sleep, he wasn't sure about the time or the days that had passed either. Fortunately the fever and heaviness seemed gone but he still had a little pain. He recalled all the events into pieces before sleep again. Minseok realized that it wasn't a dream by the sharp needle marks on the forearm.
"Ha..."
Minseok forced a laugh. Despite this, the pain stuck in the midst of his belly. His sight goes around the floor but there neither wasn't trace of cereal or the guy who was sleeping in that cell before he came in the other day. There were faintly marks of soot or fire in the opposite wall. The heap of charred remains was rolling with the wind now. Minseok thought that even if the rescue team comes up, his plan of hang in there has changed. He had deeply considered if somehow he would get to live out there on his own.
The jungle would also have to have an end, walking along a straight path can be reached the end at some point. And if the end is the end of that jungle otherwise, the end of life must be. Do or die, swallowing his heart firmly Minseok decided to address hunger first. He realized he should see if there were puddles of water near. When he stood up he felt suddenly dizzy. Between the black sights around a glimmer of light flashed suddenly. Minseok took his time to finish the manoeuvre toward the window and stood carefully onto the wall. There was no window frame; only the field of bushes outside the gray cement skeletal caught his eyes. It was then when he heard something.
"Hey, get down!"
At the same time the warning went out, raucous gunfire shook the forest. Baang. Just a moment ago the jungle was so quiet and now the shots caused violent sparking waves. The voice of the birds that didn't know where to hide covered the sky with darkness. And in the entire place the incessant echo of the birds' cry remained for long as they were looking for a new refuge. It was like a forest moving with life. The shots were repeated a few more times while the birds flapping their wings to look around the bustle. But then the gunshots sound ceased all of a sudden, and soon silence reigned once again. Minseok squatted on the floor and held his head, shocking by the shots, and his body shiver to the thought of doubting about his own ears.
