Is it easier to stay? Is it easier to go?
I don't wanna know, oh~~~
A week.
It had been a week since Sydney had left Ashton alone in his home.
She had gone to the studio the next day as agreed and acted as if everything was normal. Although, she had received many funny looks when turned up alone in her car with no reason as to why — normally, she and Ashton would take it in turns to be each other's rides or at least bring coffee.
The writing session had been fruitless. The atmosphere between the two had been tense, and both their minds had been so clouded that they had been unable to put anything down on paper. Calum, Luke and Michael had frowned at the two, groaning about how both of their best lyricists were having a bad day at the same time.
Other than that, the pair hadn't been together at all.
Ashton hadn't been to the coffee shop all week, and that's why Luke was sat in front of her, an americano clutched between his palms. He wasn't a replacement — Sydney just really needed the company.
Actually, mentioning Luke...
"Sydney?" Luke looked confused, but also concerned. He knew there was something off with his best friend, he had known for the past few weeks, but he didn't know what it was. "Sydney!"
Sydney snapped back to attention, a frown on her face. "What?"
"Were you listening to anything I said?" Luke would be frustrated if he wasn't so worried.
"Yeah, of course."
"What was I talking about then?" Luke smirked. He knew he had already won.
"Uhh." Fuck. "Petunia." It was a pretty valid guess. Luke loved that dog, as did Sydney.
Luke's smirk dropped. "What the fuck?" He shook his head. "You weren't listening and I know that you weren't. How did you even guess right?"
Sydney laughed. "You're always talking about Petunia."
"No, I'm not!"
"Either Petunia or Sierra." Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
Luke sighed in defeat. Sydney wasn't wrong. "Anyway, what's up with you?" He'd get the truth out of her.
"Nothings up with me." Sydney responded, quick to retaliate. "What's up with you?"
Luke arched an eyebrow. "Don't change the subject and don't lie to me. I'm not stupid. I know when you're lying; I'm you're best friend. What's going on with you and Ashton?"
Sydney sighed. "We just fought. I haven't spoken to him in a week."
"Am I his fucking replacement?!" Luke sounded offended. "I knew I was your emotional support and vice versa but I knew it was weird when you told me to come here after hours. I knew that was you two's thing!"
"No, you're not a replacement." Sydney giggled as Luke looked at her. "Okay, you kind of are." She looked out of the window, sighing. "I just miss him, yanno? And I don't know whether I made the right decision."
