Lollie sat at her bay window looking outside as she ate the most disgusting bowl of noodles ever.
Maya knocked on the window and allowed herself and Riley inside.
"Seven hours till school is over!" Maya shouted, "You know what your mom does?"
"She uses her intelligence to help the powerless against the powerful. She's also the person who birthed me so... that might be important too." Lollie answered.
"Yeah. She's really somethin'." Riley said.
"My dad is this artist who can read people and is a bright guy. He didn't have to father me but he did."
"Mm. He's cute." Maya said.
"What am I gonna do?"
"You'll do stuff." Maya said.
"What?"
"Ollie, the great thing about being us, we don't have to worry about being them." Riley said.
"Too late. I got into some late-night thought and now they are my twenty-four-seven thoughts."
"Lollie, if you're trying to tell us how great your parents are, we know. You're very lucky to have them. Not everybody does." Maya said.
"Maybe they're the lucky ones."
"Why?"
"They're Bailey and Finn and... I'm just their little shadow, who has these two other siblings who know what they're doing with their lives and I'm sitting here eating chicken noodles because Noah ate the last of the beef ones." Lollie said, "I'm not like them. I don't think I'll ever be like them."
There was a knock on the door. Bailey peaked her head inside.
"I made breakfast but it seems like you're already eating. Beef?"
Lollie nodded.
"Okay. You girls better hurry to school."
They nodded and Bailey closed the door.
"Why'd you lie?" Riley asked.
"I eat chicken noodles when I'm sad." ﹏﹏﹏﹏
"Ferdinand Magellan. What did he do?" Mr. Matthews asked.
"First bull with a last name!" Maya said.
"First man to circumnavigate the globe." Noah said.
