"It's not you're time" A voice called out.
"Wait! What?" I pleaded.
"It is NOT you're time." The voice repeated. An image formed in my mind, Cloud. She was nervous and it was dark. A cougar pounced on her and I screamed her name as the image went white. "CLOUD!" I sat up as my vision cleared. Not Cloud, a hospital. And I was in a bed. Someone stood up next to me and hugged me. I looked down it was Dad. "Dad." I sighed softly as I gripped his shirt. I let go as he pulled away and saw his eyes were puffy, he had only ever cried once in front of me, and that was when my mom died.
"Rebecca, I thought you were gonna die." He sniffled.
"It's ok, I'm here." I whispered still registering what had happened. "Where's Cloud, is she ok?" I asked looking up.
Dad smiled and sat down. "She's ok, she need a few stitches in her right front leg and her thigh but she's ok." I sighed and flopped back down on the pillow. Pain shot through my arm and thigh at the sudden movement. I gasped in pain and looked at my arm. There was a bandage wrapped around it and a bandage around my right leg.
"What happened to me?" I breathed still in pain.
"Well you got about 37 stitches in your shoulder and arm and about 43 stitches in your thigh and knee." Dad explained. I stared at the bandages trying to remember what happened.
"Drake, where is he?" I asked my breath hitching in my throat.
"I'll go get him, are you hungry?" I nodded and Dad smiled as he walked out. I rubbed my right hand up and down the bandages on my left arm. Footsteps came down the hall at a quick pace. Drake stopped at my door and smiled.
"I knew you weren't going to leave me." He smiled as he walked to my bed and hugged me. He hugged me softly like I was a fragile toy. I breathed in his scent and smiled. He smelled like hay and sunshine. He let go of me but held my hand and sat down. "You lost a lot of blood when you were attacked." He said looking at the floor.
"How long was I," dead. No asleep. Nope I was in a coma. "Um in a coma?"
"About two weeks." Drake seemed very interested in the floor right now. When he finally looked up tears were streaming down his face. "I missed your voice at the barn. It's been so quiet there, no one wanted to talk or laugh." His voice cracked. "They all missed you, especially Cloud." Drake sniffled. "No one screamed or laughed at the new horses as they bucked around or sang while they were doing morning chores. It was like that place had been put on mute. Cloud stopped eating for a few days and-"
"What?" I gasped.
"You didn't let me finish, She stopped eating but I added a few apples to her grain and that got her eating again. No one gave her an apple every day so I just added it to her feed. That made her happy for a bit, but she never wanted to go get turned out or get groomed. She really missed you Rebecca." I looked down at my hands thinking of Cloud and her skinny and unmoving. "Hey," Drake cooed softly lifting my head. "She's fine." Dad walked in with some Subway sandwiches on a tray and three styrofoam cups.
"Lunch." He said as he sat the tray down at the edge of the bed. Drake handed me a sandwich and a cup with an amber looking liquid in it. I took a sip, apple juice, my favorite kind of juice. My sandwich was what I usually got, Roast Beef, provolone, mayo, mustard, and lettuce. I started to eat hungrily, I guess being on a feeding tube doesn't mean you are not hungry. I was eating the last of my sandwich when the doctor walked in. I swallowed and looked up.
"Miss Rebecca, I see by what your nurse put down that you were attacked by an animal, Clarify?"
"A cougar." I fumbled with the bandage uncomfortably.
"Ah, Vicious animals. Well anyway your wrist was not broken again but quite ripped up, we will send home some exercises for you to do. And your leg was also ripped up. There is not much for that so we are sending you home with a wheelchair for a week and then we will see how it is."
"What do you mean by ripped up?" I asked.
"You tore a tendon in your arm, 2 in your leg, and a muscle in your leg." The Doctor stated.
"When can I go home?" I asked a little too quickly.
"Well we can send you home today with the wheelchair and some painkillers, but-"
"Lets do it." I cut him off. Dad shot me a glance.
"Ok then, you should be out in about an hour." The doctor stated. "And the nurse will be in soon to help you." I nodded and he walked out. I sighed, finishing the rest of my apple juice. Five minutes later the nurse came in with a wheelchair, painkillers, and a therapy ball. I stood up hastily with the nurse at my side and hobbled on one foot to the wheelchair. I sat down the nurse started to unwrap my arm. As the part came off i stared in horror at the stitches in my arm. They were ugly and gross. The nurse had left with my dad to check me out. Drake bent over the back of the wheelchair and lightly kissed my cheek.
"Hey,'' He whispered in my ear. "It looks fine, and they will be out soon." He pushed me out of the hospital with those last words in my mind.
Sorry kinda lame..... :/ But I wanted to get something out! Enjoy!
