Next thing she knew, she was pushed on to the ground by a huge mass, and her nose was filled with the rancid smell, of hot, rotting flesh. This huge animal, placed it's jaws around her neck. She kicked and clawed, and finally got it's grip off of her neck. Next thing she new, she heard the sound of a cat screeching, and everything went dark.

Foxpaw woke up to the smell of herbs, and a murmur of voices. "Is she dead? Do you think she will be okay?" "Yes! Yes! Of course she will." "Yeah Socks! Silky's right. Midnight wouldn't have brought her here if she were dead." "Stop it Dusty-" "Shut it you two!" whispered the voice the others called Silky. "She's waking up!" Foxpaw looked up and saw three strange cats looking staring straight at her. She yelped, and tried to scramble to her paws to get away, but she wasn't strong enough and fell down again. "Someone go get Pumpkin." Silky meowed over her shoulder, as she padded over to Foxpaw. Foxpaw watched as the young, white, she-cat padded over and sat down next to Foxpaw. "Hi there." she said calmly. Foxpaw hissed and tried to scratch her, but Silky jumped out of the way just in time. "Woah there!" said Silky. "It's okay. I won't hurt you, and neither will anyone else here." Foxpaw relaxed a little. "There you go." whispered Silky. "Now let's get down to business. What's your name?" she asked. "I-I'm Foxpaw." "Well Foxpaw, nice to meet you. My names Silky, and that dodo over there, is Dusty." Silky said, flicking her tail at a young tom, who was gray with flecks of brown on his back and head." His mom was feeling pretty creative when she named him." said Silky, which made Foxpaw laugh a little bit. "He isn't too bright either." said Silky. "What? Said Dusty. "See!?!" laughed Silky I am TOTALLYgoing to become a warrior before him. Foxkit chuckled, as she started to get comfortable with her new friend. Silky went on. "That black tom with white feet is named Socks, and he left to go get Pumpkin our medicine cat. You look a bit scratched up." "Are you apprentices?" asked Foxpaw. "Nope!" Said a bright orange, long-haired she-cat who ran into the den made of leaves. "We aren't a clan. We are just a group of rouge cats who have nothing against the clans. Most of us used to be kittypets who have run away from their owner, or who have been abandoned. Only a few of us came from the clans, and that was a long time ago. Now the only clan blood in our what we call a "mini clan," comes from their descendants." "So how do you know about clan things like medicine cats and apprentices." Foxpaw asked Pumpkin. "My mother told me stories about the clans when I was a kit, and I became so in awe with them, that I strived to make are little group more like a clan, but it hasn't worked out. Now let's pause the chit-chat, and get you fixed" replied Pumpkin. "Oh! That reminds me." said Foxpaw. "I need to get back to my clan! They are probably worried sick, and i don't even know where I am! I don't even know how long I have been gone! I-I-" Foxpaw broke down sobbing. "It's okay little one." Pumpkin mewed. "Midnight was walking along the border of our territory, when he heard a fight going on, so he ventured into your clan's territory. He saw you fighting a huge dog, and rushed into your camp to help. Midnight chased the dog off, and brought you back here, afraid that he would get caught if he was found in your camp. He brought you back yesterday around moonrise, and it is around sunhigh right now." "I need to get back to my clan!" Foxpaw meowed. "I am going to be late for training! Please help me heal so I can get back to camp." "Calm down little one!" Pumpkin said. "You still need a day or two to heal from your wounds, and after that, you will need a few more days after that, until you are ready to train. How about I heal you, and if I think you are feeling up to it, Midnight, Dusk, Gemstone and I, will take you to the border of your camp tomorrow, and see if we can find a patrol. You won't be able to walk, and will probably have to stay in our camp for a few days, but you seem quite young to be an apprentice. You're still the age of a kit, so we will be able to take turns carrying you." "Okay." Foxpaw sighed. "But how will Foxpaw's clan take this?" Silky broke in. They might think we captured her, and attack us!" "It's okay Silky." Pumpkin said. "We will make sure the leader of Forestclan understands the situation. I will go and tell the others about the patrol tomorrow. Foxpaw, while we were talking, I cleaned your wounds, and put some herbs on them. You have a mild concussion, and your forepaw is slightly twisted. Here are some poppy seeds for the pain, and some cobwebs if the bleeding gets worse. Silky will stay with you, and if you need anything, have her go get me, or Midnight." "Okay Pumpkin." Meowed Foxpaw. "Thanks Pumpkin!" "Your welcome!" Pumpkin yowled over her shoulder, as she trotted out.
After a while, Foxpaw began to grow tired from the poppy seeds. She fell asleep, and woke up around sunset. "Are you awake now?" she heard Silky ask. "I'm awake. Just a bit drowsy." she replied. "What do you wanna do?" asked Silky. "Ummm. Can we just talk?" Foxpaw asked. "Sure!" "So who's Midnight, Dusk and Gemstone?" Foxpaw asked. "Midnight is Pumpkin's mate. He is kind of like the "second in command" or you would call it, "deputy." "If he's the deputy, who's the leader?" Foxpaw asked. "And if Pumpkin's the medicine cat, how can she have a mate? And-" ''Woah Nellie!" Silky yowled. "Let me answer one question at a time. Pumpkin is the medicine cat, but she isn't like one of your medicine cats. She was taught herbs by a rouge, who used to be a medicine cat for one of the clans. The rouge never joined our group, because two-legs came and took him away soon after he finished teaching Pumpkin. Because he was a rouge, Pumpkin was technically, never his apprentice. She didn't meet the other medicine cats, and was never accepted by Starclan at Starmountain, so she isn't bound by the warrior code." "Does she have visions?" asked Foxpaw. "No. She never went to Star Mountain, so she was never made a true medicine cat That's why she can have a mate." "Oh." Said Foxpaw. "That makes sense. So who's the leader? And who are the other two cats Pumpkin is going to take on patrol tomorrow?" "Pumpkin is kind of like the leader. Yes she is the medicine cat, but as you have been told, are little group works a bit differently then the clans. She is also the only cat who everyone respects and trusts as a leader." Silky explained. Apparently, Gemstone was a she-cat who was around the age of Foxpaw's mother, and Dusk was her mate. They had two kits named Blossom and Honey. While they were chatting, a young, ginger, tabby she-cat Silky called Blaze, came and brought them each a rabbit. After they finished talking, the two young cats slept until sunrise the next day.
