Max's POV

I stand outside the Camp's entrance sign slumped against a tree log. David stood with a large smile on his face waiting for the rickety yellow bus to arrive.

"Isn't this exciting Max?" David began.

"What another summer of hell."

"No, another summer of friendship and making memory's." he retorted before checking his phone. "Anyway the bus shouldn't be arriving for another 30 minutes, you should go help Gwen in the mess-hall with the decorations."

"Fine i'll go help your girlfriend."

"Yeah go help your mom." I turn back to see David with a grin on his face looking back, I reply with a smirk before pulling up my hood and continuing on.

I turn around to give David the middle finger.

"Stop that Max."

I turn back and continue to the Mess-Hall passing the newly built cabins and extended councillors cabin where I hear Campbell screaming at his phone before he throws it out the window and storms out the office.

"The deal with the chinese fall through?" I ask intrigued.

"Yeah, they think that I can't be trusted after selling them those handguns that turned out to be toys.

"Offer them those old brazilian cigars that are collecting dust in you safe." I give a suggestion.

"Thats a good idea I cou...Wait how do you know about my Brazilian cigars?"

I carry on to the mess-hall not answering his question. The old doors open with a haunted screech... no matter how much time it took Campbell, David and I spent fixing the camp over the school year there are things that will never change such as the mess-hall's creaky doors or the camps general shittiness.

I step inside of the mess-hall to see Gwen struggling to put up a banner, I make my way over to her and notice she's wearing earphones, I smirk before pulling a little prank. I grab a balloon and blow it up before creeping up behind her and popping it with a pin. She squeals out and jumps away from the bursting balloon while i'm laughing my ass off at her.

She turns to me almost hyperventilating. "You little shit." i'm still laughing. "You could have given me a heart attack!"

I fake wipe a tear from my eye before responding to her "Don't be so dramatic Gwen, you're Davids girlfriend so a heart attack will probably have done you some good."

"Said David's son." She responds

"Touche."

I go over and pick up the banner she was trying to put up. " You need help with this?"

"Yeah." she grumbled climbing back upon the stool. " Can you pass me the Blu Tack." I hand it to her and she sticks it to he wall.

Like every year the banner says 'Welcome Camp Campbell Campers!' in big shiny letters.

She steps off the step ladder and picks up a tray of cakes and candy and goes and puts them down on one of the more central tables.

I reach for one of the iced buns before she warns me " I wouldn't touch those if I was you.... Quatermaster made them." I pull my hand away from those probably poisoned treats before helping Gwen with the rest of the decorating until Campbell walks in, still on his phone "So Max I offered them the cigars as well but they still seem hesitant any other ideas?"

He looks up from his phone to see Gwen glaring at him before she advanced over to him and plucked his phone from his hands.

"Ah, come on I was so close to getting a profitable deal."

"No scheming while at camp... remember last year when you lost Space-Kid in a game of cards."

"That was a peaceful 5 hours." I intervene .

Before anyone else adds anything to the conversation David busts in.

"They're here."

"Who the FBI?" Campbell asks looking extremely nervous.

"No the campers." He answers before opening the door showing us the smoking bus pulling into camp.
