Max's P.O.V

The next few days went slow, every night came the same weird dream : Me stuck in the camp, while someone in the mist called out my name. The moment I head into the mist, I wake... I had no idea what it meant and it was annoying the hell out of me.

Slipping out of my bed and grabbing my trademark hoodie, I made my way to breakfast, I had made a habit of being the last one out of bed. (Due to my love of sleeping in.) So I wasn't surprised to see everybody all ready up, what was different about today is that Nikki looked extremely excited instead of her normal excited and Neil looked annoyed compared to his normal anxious.

"What's wrong with you." - I ask, taking a sip of my coffee.

"It's Friday." - Neil stated annoyed.

"So?"

"Check the calendar."

"So what? Today's Adventure-Camp."

David interrupted before Neil could explain. - "Good morning Camp Campbell campers! As all of you should know, Today is Adventure-Camp and we will be going on a hike." - Nobody said anything, except for Nikki who cheered.

Gwen spoke up. - "We will be leaving in an hour, and everybody will be coming... No exceptions! If I have to suffer through this shit so do all of you."

"I'd love to come, but my old football injury is acting up."

"No problem Mr. Campbell, you just stay here and get better, that's all we ask of you." - David chirped while Gwen glared at them.

"Yeah me to!" - Neil added.

"What your old football injury acting up?"

"Yep..." - Neil lied further.

"Neil I don't think you've ever seen a football, let alone play it." - Nik laughed at that.

"C'mon Neil aren't you excited, hiking is some of the most fun you can have at camp!" - David expressed.

"Hiking is as much fun as Geology is a science."

The hour passed a lot quicker than I expected, even with Neil listing off all the dangers of hiking. I unplugged my phone and left my cabin, meeting up with everyone at the centre of the camp. Everyone was there, Neil said he was going to hide to get out of it, but looks like someone found him as he was sitting with a frustrated look on his face.

"Now, that everyone's here, we can begin... we will be following Deadman's trail." - David began, he pointed to a trail on his map while wearing a hiking backpack that looked bigger than he was.

"Deadman's trail, that sounds king of dangerous."

"What, you scared dork?" - Nurf insulted.

"No!" - Neil counters, red faced.

"Kinda seems you are, dude." - Ered interjects.

"Let's just do this dumb hike!"

Nikki elbows Neil - "Hikes arean't dumb!"

"ENOUGH!" - Gwen screams. - "Continue David."

"As I was saying, we will be following Deadman's trail through the forest, we will stoping to eat lunch at this clearing here." - He pointed to a spot on the map. - "Then we will continue the trail and should be back at camp for Dinner at 6."

The hike was long and tiring, especially with David pointing out all the different types of trees and insects we passed, or so I heard from Neil lunch, I kept my earphones in and blasted music for the duration of the walk. When we stopped for Lunch, the clearing we stopped looked over a patch of dense forest, the only thing that prevented a steep fall was a flimsy wooden fence.

I wasn't all that bothered from the walk until Neil started ranting and I saw what lunch was... Quartermaster master had made cheese and ham sandwiches which were weirdly soggy, it didn't stop Nik from basically inhaling both mine and hers. I wasn't really hungry anyways, I was too tired for food.

"Are you okay Max?" - Nik asks me

"I'm fine... Why are you asking."

"You haven't been eating much lately and you have bags under your eyes."

"Probably from the lack of sleep." - Neil explains

"What?"

"He stays up to 3am and keeps waking up every time he tries to sleep." Neil continues.

"Is this because Max?" - Nik was concerned.

"I don't want to talk about it!" - I was annoyed and walked off, I leaned against the fence and stared at the forest, I immediately realised my mistake as the fence broke and I tumbled over the cliff side

"MAX!" - I Heard Nik scream as I hurtled down the mountain.

What a dumb way to die.
