Dani's pov:
The last bell of the day rings and we all stand up as the math teacher continues to talk.
"Test is Friday be sure to study!"
I go to my locker, gather everything I need, and put it all in my backpack. After this morning and meeting Michael I didn't see him any other time during the day. He probably forgot about me.
I go outside and lean against a tree waiting for my bus. Once the bus pulls up, I sit at my usual spot waiting for a complete stranger to sit down next to me and ignore me. A beautiful girl with dark brown hair and blue/green eyes sits next to me and stares at her phone. Typical.
I feel something touch my shoulder and I raise my hand up as self defense and instinct and almost punch the girl in the face. I'm so awkward it hurts.
"S-sorry, it's an instinct," I apologize quickly lowering my hand.
She laughs, "It's okay, really. I'm Emma. I'm new and I don't really know many people."
"I'm Dani. I don't really know many people either so I don't think I'll be much of a help," I sigh staring out the window.
"Well now we know each other. So that's a start?" Emma says as more of a question.
I turn back to face her and nod, forcing a slight no teeth smile. Maybe my life is making a turn for the better.

I get home and see my mum sitting at the kitchen table with her head on the table. I set my bag down and slowly make my way over to her, my heart beating a million miles an hour. I place my hand on her shoulder as she looks up, a tear stained face.
"What's wrong Mum? Did something happen?" I ask clearly confused.
"It's your brother, Jace. H-he robbed a service station with his friend, Ty."
I stand there in complete and utter shock waiting for what my mother was going to say next.
"Ty had a gun, we don't know if Jace knew about it."
"Where's dad?" I ask quietly not being able to handle this. My older brother who I have grown up with my whole life just committed a crime.
"He's at the police station with Jace. I needed to be home for you."
I nod and walk right out the front door. I climb up one of our trees and sit there not being able to express much emotion. My brother is most likely going to jail and there is nothing I can do to help it. This boy that I have known my whole life just did something unbelieveable.
You see, everybody I love just leaves.
My "father" who is currently at the police station is really just my step father. My real dad walked out on my mum, brother, and I when I was 13 years old. Haven't seem him since. I've never known the full story of why he left, but part was because he had a criminal record and didn't want to be around children and influence them in any bad way. That plan obviously failed.
My whole family is just a bunch of people seeking crime. Well except my mum and me. Well of what I know. I can't ju-
My thoughts are interrupted by a slightly familiar voice, "Are you okay up there?"
Why would they ask if I wa-
Oh. I'm crying. I look down and see Emma looking up at me concerned. I wipe away my tears and crawl down the tree.
"Uh, hi, Emma," I mess with the sleeves of my flannel that is still around my waist.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm fine," I say a bit too harsh. "Sorry, didn't mean to snap at you."
"Okay, well I live right across the street if you need me," Emma offers, smiling sweetly.
I thank her and walk back inside.
"No, I'm not fine," I whisper to myself.
I hate the world so much.

(A/N):
I literally suck at endings so much.
Well I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
Sorry I took so long.
What Emma looks like is what is off to the side.
K. Bye
