Chapter 7

2 weeks later

Paul's pov

"I hate these appointments"I said laying on the exam bed with my shirt up.Dr.Robbins and Herman came in."Hey!"I said."Oh god somethings wrong"I jumped to conclusions.

"No we need to ask you to do us and another baby,a favor"Dr.Robbins said."Sure"I said furrowing my eye brows."I don't understand"Danny said.

"I have an expectant mother who is careless"Dr.Robbins said."What do you mean?"I asked."She's smoking,not eating right,drinking,doing drugs,you might be the only person who can fix it"Dr.Robbins said."Oh"I looked down running my nude baby bump.

"But first,I'm going to preform the annual ultrasound"I nodded.She squirted the gel and put the wand on my stomach.She stared at it and turned to me."His arm is broken"I nodded and let out a deep breath."His leg,including the femur is broken,but it's not like you haven't hurt any of this before,you know his bones are extremely weak"Dr.Herman said.

"As soon as he's born,he'll be taken to surgery?"Danny asked."I'll give you a few minutes with him,but we want to take him to surgery as soon as possible so he isn't in that much pain.We'll weigh and measure him and then put him in your arms for a few minutes"Dr.Herman explained.

"You'll have a team of doctors for him right?"I asked."Yes,you will meet that team,just not at this time"Dr.Robbins said.I held in my tears."I feel so helpless,you are fantastic doctors and I hate that I have to trust you because all I want to do is meet my baby and I should be the one to protect him and to take care of him,but I can't do that"I said running my hands through my hair.

"I know this is very emotional for both of you,you don't expect your baby to be born sick"Dr.Robbins said."You don't"I said.Dr.Herman checked his heart,his heartrate,his heartbeat,and I loved listening to it."I can listen to that sound all day"I commented.

"I can also go for a back rub all day"I said smirking at Danny."You've seen my beauty routine's,you want me to do something like that?"Danny asked."God No!Just a back rub"I smiled at him."And a foot rub,is it normal for you feet to be so swollen?"I asked.

"Unfortunately it is"Dr.Herman said.I pouted."Is it normal to have purple stretch marks?"I asked."Unfortunately again,yes"She said."I deserve a foot rub and a back rub"I smiled."I'm craving pickles and spray cheese lately"I said hinting for him to get me pickles and spray cheese."What's with pickles?Everything you eat it has to have pickles on it or on the side"I nodded."I don't know,pickles make everything taste better"I said.

"He's pregnant,food cravings can be very weird"Dr.Herman said."Excatly"I said."Therefore you should let me eat my pickles!"I said.

"Everything looks good,for a baby with OI atleast"Dr.Herman said wipping the gel off my stomach with a tissue."Come with me"Dr.Robbins said and we left the exam room,I did atleast,Danny stayed to talk to Dr.Herman.

"Paul this is Megan"The girl nodded.I sat down,struggling with the bump in the way."Your gay?"She questioned."No I accidently had sex with my best friend,we don't love eachother,but we love this baby"I said rubbing my bump."I thought you were because you have a sense of style"She said.She bit her nails."I need a smoke"She said looking trashly.I rolled my eyes.

"I'm 26 weeks and my baby's dying inside of me"I confessed."Everyday he's in pain and I can't hug him because he needs to stay inside of me for the next three months because he needs to grow and develop.I would kill to have a healthy baby like you"I said to her.

"Why are you smoking when you should be taking excellent care of the baby your housing for 9 months!"I said."I took excellent care of my baby and he still got sick,you're making your child sick"I said."I would give anything,anything in the entire world to make my baby healthy,but I can't because the world doesn't work like that"I said and Dr.Robbins looked at me.

"You don't know me,how can you judge me?"She said."Because even though I don't fully know you.I can judge you because your having a healthy baby-boy?girl?"I questioned.

"Girl"She mumbled."Your having a healthy baby girl and your throwing it away!"I said."You see me having a sick baby when I did nothing wrong and you see how upset I am...so why are you doing this to yourself?Why do you want a sick child?Is it because your an attention seeker?"I questioned.

"Because you don't look like one and my only other explaintion is you want to hurt your baby,which is a shame"I said.

"Thank you"Dr.Robbins said and I got up and went to see Danny.I waited outside as he talked to Dr.Herman.Dr.Robbins came up behind me."Do you want to see something so adorable?"Dr.Robbins asked and I nodded going with her.

Danny's pov

"Danny we have the pediatric nebulizer for the baby all set up so you can keep it in the nursery"Dr.Herman said."Thank you,I know I may have been crazy when I asked if you had a penguin one,but Paul loves penguins and I wanted to give him something cute instead of a big scary oxygen"I said.

"Because the baby will most likely be asthmatic you might need to use this more often becuse of the OI"I nodded."How do you use it?"I asked.

"Place the air compressor on a sturdy surface that will support its weight. Plug the cord from the compressor into a properly grounded (three-prong) electrical outlet."Dr.Herman taught me how to start up the machine."Before treatment, wash your hands with soap and water and dry completely"I nodded.

"Carefully measure medications exactly as you have been instructed and put them into the nebulizer cup. Most medications today come in premeasured unit dose vials so measuring is not necessary. If you do measure, use a separate, clean measuring device for each medication."Dr.Herman said."Assemble the nebulizer cup and mask or mouthpiece."Dr.Herman said.

"Connect the tubing to both the aerosol compressor and nebulizer cup."She demenstrated."Turn on the compressor to make sure it is working correctly. You should see a light mist coming from the back of the tube opposite the mouthpiece."Dr.Herman explained showing me.

"Sit up straight on a comfortable chair.Jordan may sit more comfortably on you or Paul's lap. If you are using a mask, position it comfortably and securely on Jordan's face.If you are using a mouthpiece, place it between Jordan's teeth and seal the lips around it."I nodded.

"Have him take slow, deep breaths. If possible, have him hold each breath for 2-3 seconds before breathing out. This allows the medication to settle into the airways."Dr.Herman explained.

"Continue the treatment until the medication is gone (an average of 10 minutes). The nebulizer will make a sputtering noise, and the cup will have just a little medication remaining."Dr.Herman told me.

"If dizziness or jitteriness occurs, stop the treatment and rest for about 5 minutes. Continue the treatment, and try to breathe more slowly. If dizziness or jitteriness continues to be a problem with future treatments, inform Dr.Robbins or me"Dr.Herman explained."During the treatment, if the medication sticks to the sides of the nebulizer cup, you may shake the cup to loosen the droplets."Dr.Herman added.

"Thank you so much Dr.Herman!"I said leaving the office.I couldn't find Paul anywhere."Dr.Herman do you know where Paul went?"I asked."I might have an idea"She said.

Paul's pov

"Sh"I smiled at the adorable baby girl."Hi beautiful"I smiled.Danny came up behind me wrapping ars arms around my waist feeling my bump."We're going to have a little boy soon"I smiled looking at the baby."I know"Danny said kissing my cheek.
