Song of the chapter -
Yoongi stepped away from the window, dragging a hand through his hair. The air in the room felt heavy, not just with the approaching storm, but with everything pressing on his chest. He hesitated for a second, then reached for his phone and called Jin's room. It rang twice before being answered.
"Hyung," Yoongi said, his voice low.
There was a pause, then Jin replied, tone alert. "Yoongi? You okay?"
A beat. "Can I come over?"
Jin didn't ask anything more. "Yeah. Door's open."
Yoongi threw on a hoodie, tucking his hands into the sleeves like he always did when he was unsettled. The corridor to Jin's room was quiet, the plush carpet muffling his steps. When he slipped inside, Jin was already sitting on the small couch, a bottle of water in hand, brows raised in gentle concern.
Yoongi didn't sit right away. He hovered by the coffee table, shoulders taut. "I... can't stop thinking about it."
Jin gave a small nod, motioning for him to sit. "Kyomi."
Yoongi finally dropped onto the edge of the couch, elbows on his knees. "She's right there, hyung. Right across the damn street. And I've done nothing but pace like a lunatic. I haven't seen her in years, and now I know she's within walking distance and I feel like I'm crawling in my own skin."
Jin leaned forward slightly, elbows on his knees too, matching his posture. "It's a lot. Seeing someone from your past... especially someone like her."
"It's not just seeing her," Yoongi muttered, "it's the what-ifs. The unfinished conversation. The silence between us. I never got closure, Jin. And now? I don't even know what I'd say."
"You don't need to have all the right words, Yoongi," Jin said quietly. "But maybe this is your chance. Fate gave you a door, even if it's a stormy one."
Yoongi looked toward the window again. Lightning cracked, lighting up his jawline in a flicker of silver-blue. "The timing feels cruel."
Jin reached out and put a hand on his shoulder. "Or maybe it's finally time."
-KY POV-
The skies outside had turned an eerie, bluish grey, casting a shadow through the large front windows of the café. It was only early evening, but the world looked like it was tipping into night far too early. The wind had picked up, bending the trees that lined the street, their branches scratching against nearby shopfronts like long fingers.
Kyomi stood behind the counter, towel in hand from wiping down a spill, but her eyes were fixed on the storm clouds churning above. The usual soft hum of the café had grown quiet, and the comforting warmth of the overhead lights did little to soften the anxiety curling in her stomach. Her regulars—two older ladies who always shared a chamomile tea before their evening walk—were gathering their scarves and coats.
"You should hurry home," Kyomi urged gently, even as she tried to keep her voice calm. "They're saying it might be serious."
One of them gave her a motherly pat on the hand. "You too, dear. Don't stay here too long."
"I won't," she lied, giving them a soft smile before watching them leave into the darkening street.
She was debating whether to close early when her phone buzzed. A government alert. Her heart skipped a beat.
