Chapter 5

"Bonjour!" the French teacher said as he walked into the class, "welcome to your last class of the day." The French teacher, Mr. Lumiere, looked fairly young with hazel brown hair that was styled in an undoubtedly french fashion. He was wearing an elegant French styled yellow suit; his most prominent feature was his long nose that seemed too stretch impossibly far from his face.

"Bonjour" the class parroted back and he grinned,

"In this class we will be learning the language of love and I only ask that you take responsibility for the power I will give you" he said. I felt myself blush as some of the girls in class giggled, I hadn't really talked to girls before. Sure I played sports and that certainly helped girls notice me but they always tended to drift towards the more confident guys. I was determined to be one of those confident guys this year, no matter what.

"Sugar" a voice called from next to me and I blinked before looking up into the eyes of a gorgeous girl. She had beautifully tan creamy skin that immediately brought to mind the candy, caramel. Her shoulder length red hair was artfully done where the front pieces held the back of her hair out of her face. Her eyes were a deep dark green that I could certainly get lost in and her mouth was a perfect shaped cupids bow.

"Y-yes?" I stuttered feeling my whole face heat as she smiled gently at me

"Would you like to be my partner?" she asked and I glanced around to see everyone else partnering up.

"Yes of course! I mean-" I swiftly got up knocking over my chair in the process, causing the whole class to look at me.

"Lets try and slow down just a little bit Monsieur" Mr. Lumiere called out and there were snickers around the class as I went to pull her chair out for her, giving her a shy smile.

"Aw, well aren't you just the sweetest little thing?" she said placing a hand over her heart and having a seat in the chair before I gently pushed her chair in.

"Im Hercules" I introduced myself as I picked my chair up and resumed my seat

"Im Rosetta" she said holding out her hand for me to shake. I remembered something my father always did that made my mother blush and decided I would try it on this gorgeous girl. I took her hand and turned it over before placing a kiss to the back of her hand.

"Well you sure know how to make a girl feel like a lady" she said a blush gracing her beautiful features as her other hand went to cover her chest.

"Bien joué Mr. Hercules! well done! that's the way to make a lady feel beautiful" Mr. Lumiere said patting me on the back and once again drawing the classes attention to me. My cheeks were threatening to turn to ash when Rosetta spoke up

"Oh don't you listen to him Sugar, its good to know guys can still be sweet without wanting to roll around in the fields with you" Rosetta said patting my hand.

"Um, thanks I think" I said smiling gently at her, she simply nodded and said

"Of course, now I'm pretty sure we are supposed to be using those words to create conversation." She pointed to the front of the class and I looked to see a list of words written on the board:

Bonjour (hello)

Comment ca va (how are you)

Bien et toi (well and you)

Je vais trés bein merci (I'm very well thank you)

"The key to any language my young étudiants is starting a conversation" Mr. Lumiere called out.

"You have any idea what those words mean?" Rosetta asked and I nodded

"Bonjour probably means Hello, bien means good so I assume on of them is asking how the other is doing" I said glancing at her nervously but she wasn't even looking at me as she nodded.

"That makes sense" she agreed "but how do we know the order?" I sheepishly pulled my textbook out of my backpack

"Help?" I asked waving the book slightly and she smiled brightly

"Bien joué! once again, well done Mr. Hercules!" Mr. Lumiere said from behind me, making me jump "coming prepared to class is very important!" I blushed again as I slowly placed the textbook on the table between Rosetta and myself.

"Well, lets get to it Sugar" Rosetta said grinning, seemingly undisturbed by all the attention we were getting. I nodded and she took over the assignment with confidence that I both admired and envied.

"If I asked you to help me with something........ would you?" I whispered to her and she turned to me with a curious look on her face.

"Of course honey, what is it?"

"Im super shy" I admitted and I crunched and unclenched my toes under the table while I avoided looking into her face "id like to be more confident, like you....... can you help me?" she grinned and nodded

"Well, I can certainly do my best and if you don't mind I can ask my sisters to help as well, between the six of us we will find a way to build up your confidence level." I smiled at her and gave her a grateful nod

"Thank you" I said and she waved it off

"Come now children," Mr. Lumiere said drawing our attention "if you don't progress you're going to be feeling very foolish when you get up to present to the class." I paled as Rosetta giggled

"Looks like you're going to be getting your very first lesson soon" she said and I gave her a weak smile in return.

I was totally screwed.
