Chapter 7

I hummed softly as I made my way to the this floor of the Gold Dorm. I had to change out of this stupid uniform before I made my way to tryouts, all the sports for the year were having tryouts today. I didn't normally participate in sports or clubs, preferring to leave my free time to do other things. However, they made it quite clear at that stupid auditorium meeting we had to go to that we had to do a sport or a club; there was no way I was joining any of the stupid clubs they had so sports it was. It was fine I guess, I could run fairly well, so I planned to tryout for track, but not in this ugly ass uniform.

I pushed the dorm door open and nearly knocked over my roommate Tzipporah. Her long braided hair was in a ponytail at the back of her head. She wore a teal crop top that exposed her midriff and black gym shorts, on her feet were black tennis shoes. Her dark chocolate skin was bare of all make up and her hazel eyes shown with determination. I also noticed that her usual jewelry was missing.

"Sports tryouts?" I asked and she nodded.

"Yea, what about you?"

"Of course" I snorted steeping past her and she shut the door," I'm not joining any of those stupid clubs." She looked amused before shrugging.

"Do you want me to for you?" she asked and I paused to consider it, Tzipporah wasn't all and and out of my two dorm mates she was definitely preferable to Anna.

"Nah, I'm good" I said turning to change. While Tzipporah was ok she was just enough of a goody two shoes to ruin any real fun I might plan on having and I couldn't have that. I hummed as I placed a headband hold back my hair and braided the rest so that it would stay out my face while I ran. I stripped out of my uniform before putting on a purple tank top and some black spandex shorts. I slipped on some sneakers before surveying myself in the mirror, I didn't look half bad...but I did look like I was up to no good."Perfect" I said blowing myself a kiss before leaving the dorm to head out to the football field.

The football field was like a mad house as people stretched, talked, or did as the coaches asked in hopes of making the team. I had time to spare since the track coach was also the soccer coaching soccer season came before track. I leaned against the side of the bleachers to observe the groupings that had formed and see if there were any opportunities to cause mischief. Most of them seemed to have grouped themselves by sports, like Tzipporah hanging out with the other basketball wannabes but even then there were still sub groups. It was no surprise that Tzipporah appeared to have formed a triad with Mareena and Kida. My musings were interrupted as a boy swaggered up to me and I turned my fully amused attention on him.

His name was Flynn Rider, we shared all our classes except Biology and World Geography. He was a strange boy for sure, he walked around like he was the only rooster in a hen house and spread his false confidence like it was a gift. He had longer than average shaggy brown hair, bushy eyebrows, and a huge nose that completely obscured his beautiful almond eyes. He had a nice tan, but his body was to lean for my taste with thin shoulders and barely a waist to speak of. It didn't appeal to me whatsoever, but judging by the look on his face he was going to try his luck anyway.

"Hey there" he said giving me what he probably thought was a sexy smile, but only made me want to laugh at his ridiculousness.

"Hi" I said deciding to humor him, after all this could turn into a beautiful opportunity for some fun.

"What's a beautiful lady like you doing all alone?" he asked and I saw Mareena chase off a guy that was evidently bothering their small group. In an instant a plan was made.

"Look, you look like a sweet guy and I don't want to see you get hurt" I said pouting at him and making sure my voice sounded full of regret," But my ex is super jealous and likes to hurt guys who talk to me." Flynn looked fearful and I knew I had to act fast or I would lose this opportunity.

"But let me help you out, sweet guy that you are" I said turning to face Mareena's group and pointing out Mareena. "The girl with the short reddish brown hair is Mareena. She's looking for a guy that can be aggressive and look past her defensive deamanor." Flynn looked to be considering it for a moment before nodding.

"Thank you" he said before begining his swagger walk to her group and I just barely contained my snickers. I forced myself to tho, after all, nothing had happened yet.

"Clever" a voice said and I turned to see Shan Yu standing behind me, he was sweaty and clearly just finished football tryouts. Shan Yu was much more my type with strong broad shoulders and a firm chest that came down to form a firm and sturdy waist. He had a strong square jaw and defined cheekbones with fairly long black hair. His eyes were a bright amber color that complimented his cream colored skin. He wore a gray T-shirt and grey sweatpants with his black sneakers on, he stared at me with an amused look on his face.

"Thanks" I grinned at him "but the real fun comes if it works" we both turned to see Flynn talking to the girls, he looked uncomfortable and the girls looked pissed off> It happened in an instant, Flynn said something and Mareena swung next thing we saw Flynn was unmoving on the ground and I laughed." she knocked him out cold!" I laughed and Shan Yu grinned.

"Well done" he said and I smiled at him.

"Thank you" I said before holding my hand out to him,"I'm Eris." He took my hand and turned it over to kiss my inner wrist.

"I'm Shan Yu" he said.

"Alright kids thank you! Thank you so much, check the board tomorrow to see who made it" a voice called and I glanced over to see Coach Hermes waving at a group of students before shouting," Can I get everyone trying out for track over here please so we may begin?"

"That's me" I said pushing off the bleachers and turning to make my way over to the coach.

"Show them how it's done" he said and I paused looking over my shoulder to give him a wink.

"I always do."
