Guiding Star

Chapter 14- A Little to Far:

"Where are you?" Aizawa's voice said through the ear piece.

"I'm in the underground part of the building, Cerberus is protecting me but there are so many spirits here." Roman chimed looking at the sea of translucent outlines of people that were once living. "What happened here?"

"It was a earthquake, a lot of people died and more are still trapped under the rubble." Aizawa said, "Can you see anyone still alive?"

"It's mostly just the dead, I don't even hear anyone." Roman said getting thrown into some rubble. "Poltergeists." Roman growled out as Cerberus snapped at the black mass in front of her.

"Roman get out of there." Aizawa said worriedly into the speaker and the demon started to growl. It sent shivers down her spine and the air almost turned to ice, where it hurt to even inhale.

"I can't right now, poltergeist has me cornered." Roman said quickly dodging the attack coming from the angry spirit.

"I'm on my way-"

"Don't bother I'm in the rubble right now. You come too close to this you can get possessed and I won't be happy about that one." Roman said groaning as she felt three claws cut into her skin.

"I just got this fixed you damn spirit." Roman snapped grabbing Cerberus and jumping upwards up a few levels of building. She placed him onto the ground and gave him some of her energy so he could continue fighting.

The thing practically ripped the floor upwards as it climbed upwards after her. She flipped out of the way of the debris being thrown upwards. Her torso ached in protest as she jumped around the room trying to escape.

"Cerberus attack!" Roman snapped stepping back into reality and running out of the building. "He slashed my side, I'm running on adrenaline I haven't looked down and I don't want to." Roman said into her ear piece.

"I'm coming right now try not to die while I'm not there." Aizawa said and Roman made her way to where she would be safe.

Shōta Aizawa

Aizawa landed besides Roman and gasped at the sight. Her side was teared into ribbons, it was worse than she implied. She fell to her knees and Aizawa used his Capture Weapon to bandage her sides cutting the bandage with his knife. He carried her to where the other Pro Hero's were working.

"Medic!" Aizawa screamed and a nurse appeared from thin air. Her hands glowed orange and Roman groaned.

"Get her into the ambulance, were going to have to take her to the emergency room." The nurse said using her quirk to stop the bleeding. Aizawa nodded and gently lifted her upwards and rested her on the gurney.

"Where are we going?" Roman asked weakly coughing up blood.

"Were going to the hospital, the poltergeist slashed open your side really badly." Aizawa said trying to ignore the fact he could see her muscle and organs. "The doctors can help you heal up and make sure nothing is wrong." Aizawa said and Roman looked like she was scared.

"Promise me you wont leave me." Roman said squeezing Aizawa's hand and he nodded.

"Of course, just get some rest and i'll see you very soon." Aizawa said kissing her head as she passed out. The doctors put her on a respirator and connected her to multiple machines that dampened her quirk and monitored her pulse.

When they arrived at the hospital he was forced into the waiting room where he had to sit for three hours as they did an emergency surgery. They had to call in a few well known healers in the hospital and Aizawa bit his non existent nails in worry. The doctor walked over to him and opened up a file.

"After three hours of surgery, traditional and quirk related healing Roman is doing better. We have her in a stable condition right now and ''from what we can tell she should make a full recovery."

"Thank you Doctor." Aizawa said following him to the room Roman was being held at. Aizawa took his place by her side and held onto her hand. She squeezed back almost sensing his presence there and he smiled softly. He stayed by her side and made sure that she was safe.

With his adrenaline wearing off he felt his eyes grow heavy, though he couldn't fight the sleep his body desperately needed.

Roman Smith

Roman woke up with a horrible pain in her side. She lurched forward and startled Aizawa awake. "Stay here I'll get the nurse." He said leaving her in the room fighting off the feeling of crying.

She saw spirits wandering the halls and older people following the living, worried parents never stop worrying about you even in death. Roman then saw Cerberus guarding her door and she let out a low whistle. He jumped onto the bed and she used him as a spiritual ice pack for her side.

Aizawa came back followed by a nurse who looked at Roman worriedly. "I'm going to put her on some pain medication, I suggest talking to Recovery Girl and seeing if she can heal her fully." The nurse said turning a dial on the side of her bed and relief flooded her body.

"How are you feeling?" Aizawa asked sitting besides her again and holding her hand.

"I feel like shit." Roman said rolling over onto her not wounded side. "Like a poltrogeist got way too close to gutting me."

"Get some rest, those painkillers are bound to make you sleepy. Me and Cerberus are watching over you." Aizawa said gently kissing her lips and letting her lean into the uncomfortable bed. "I have to make a few phone calls, I'll be at the door." Aizawa said, true to his word Roman could hear him talking on the phone. Roman tried to listen but she couldn't hold her eyes open anymore, the drugs had her drowsy and all over the place.

Roman woke up and she felt so much better. She looked around and she was in Aizawa's room. She lifted up her shirt and saw three pink scars along with a million small ones. Her illusion dropped and her scars were showing. She sat up and looked around the room.

"Shōta?" Roman rasped out looking around and she heard something fall off the kitchen table and a groan.

"Morning." Aizawa said getting up and sitting on her bedside. "I had recovery girl heal you up fully that's why your strength is diminished." He explained and Roman nodded.

"That explains why I feel so weak." Roman said flexing her fingers slowly. "Though it was worth it after all, i can feel what the doctors did to me, the strain of healing and then the surgery itself."

"Yep that's why you need to take it easy, i'll be taking care of you the next few weeks. You won't have to show up for parole either it will be just me." Aizawa said and Roman shook her head.

"Well i'll show up but i don't think i can do much." Roman said with a chuckle.

"Here's some food, it's just apple slices and toast." Aizawa said handing her the plate of food which she gladly took.

"Thank you Azi." Roman said with a smile and Aizawa joined her on the bed and they began watching some movie on TV.
