(Hey that rhymes)

~*~*~

"Let's fall in love..." I hummed along to the record playing in the next room over. The steam from my shower still clouded the room as I ruffled my hair with a towel to dry it. I can't remember the last time I was this excited. Man, the only time I can remember was the day I graduated from medical school and began my residency. However, this excitement is far different from that. It's a warm, fluttering excitement that squeezes your heart.

I was going on a date with Tony Stark. The same Tony that came out as Iron Man those years ago. The one that saves the world day after day. The one that baked me, a random doctor, the most delicious cake in the entire world. Part of me feels like I don't deserve him.

I look into the mirror, taking in my fresh shaven face and perfectly combed hair, and all of my doubt melts away. Throwing my towel over my shoulder, I whistle to the music and pick a suit from my closet. It's not a business meeting so nothing crazy, but it needs to be classy. My scarred fingers graze over a fuzzy material and I stop. Of course: my red velvet suit. Paired with a bowtie, I'll look flawless. Tony will lose it when he sees me. Swiftly closing the buttons of the white shirt, I regard my outfit in the mirror. All that's missing is a watch.

Dashing across the room, I open my drawer to reveal my watch collection, excluding the ones I sold in my search to fix my hands. One in particular caught my eye and I reached out for it. I don't know how I got it, but it had a gold band, white face, and an arc reactor at the center, beneath the hands. Must've been some kind of hero convention, I figured as I slipped it on. He'll be pleased to see I wear his merch. I chuckle to myself and snatch my keys from the side table.

"Yes, Christine, I'm going on a date!" I laughed, my phone on speaker in my car.

"You're lying," Christine groaned on the other end. "Who's this mystery man then?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you."

"I already don't believe you. Just tell me."

"Tony Stark!" I blurted out, happy she couldn't see my dopey smile.

"...Makes sense," she responded, indifference in her voice. "You two are perfect for each other."

My smile got even wider. "Really? How so?"

"Well you're both stupid smart, stubborn, caring...sometimes, and total dorks," she stated matter-of-factly. "You... complete each other."

   "Awww."

   "Plus you need a top."

I lost control of my steering for a second before focusing back in on the road. My mind was foggy after that comment, going wild with thoughts. "HEY! I do NOT."

   "Oh you know you do."

   "Do not!"

   "Do too."

   "Do not!"

   "Do too."

   "Do-"

Blaring horns snapped me from my thoughts, my eyes blinded by flashing lights ahead of me. I slammed on my brakes, but the momentum brought me crashing into the car ahead of me. Glass broke and metal screeched as my world went black.
