When you heard that he was back home, part of you didn't believe it. You had wondered what he was up to, where he was at and if he was ever going to come home but when Amanda said it, you were in shock.

"He's back?" You asked her. She nodded slowly as if she just gave you terrible news and you took a deep breath. "Do you know where he is?" You asked.

"I heard he was going to play ball later, at the usual spot," Amanda told you. You nodded and asked her if she would come with you. She agreed, but the whole way there she protested heavily about why it was not a good idea and she was absolutely correct.

You had to see him. You had to look him in the eye and ask him why. Why had he left you? Why had he dropped all contact with you after you promised you would wait for him? Why had he taken your loyalty for granted?

Pulling up the gym your legs suddenly forgot how to work. You couldn't get out of the car, your hands glued to the wheel. "You wanted to come here, goof. What are you doing?" Amanda asked. You looked at her, your head snapping in her direction.

"I don't know what to say," you told her honestly.

"You've had a speech prepared for months, what do you mean?" She laughed at you, opening her own door. This was true. You, in fact, did rehearse a whole speech that you would give to him the moment you saw him but in all actuality, you never thought you'd ever see him again and now that the moment was here, you've blanked.

As Amanda left you behind in your car, you had no choice but to follow her. So you did. As you walked to the front doors, your eyes automatically scanned the parking lot to see if you could find his car but there was no luck. You didn't see that jeep anywhere. That jeep that you knew like the back of your hand.

You heard the shoes squeaking and the echo of the ball bouncing on and off the court the second that you walked in and as you took the steps closer to the gym, your heart rate sped up. The doors and windows looking into the gym were all open and you could see him. You could see him.

"Come on, look, he's sitting down," Amanda said, pointing to him. He was wiping his sweat with a rag and taking a swig of water. You nodded and she pulled you into the gym. The echo was louder in there from the other players but he was on the furthest court from the door. You had time.

You walked halfway through the gym before one of his friends that you recognized from before point at you and he turned around, his hand in his curls. He was mid-laugh when he turned around, any sense of happiness completely disintegrated from his face. Your breath caught and you stopped all movement. Amanda's hand was on your elbow, the only thing that you could feel in the moment.

You decided to focus on that, her hand, rather than anything else as he walked towards you. He was rubbing his hand on the back of his neck, a nervous tactic that he always did. "Y/N," he whispered. He looked around nervously before looking back at you. "What are you doing here?" He asked as if it was weird that you were here and not the only way around.

"What am I doing here? You didn't tell me you were home," you breathed. You were actually shocked any words came out of your mouth at all. He looked so nervous and he should be. He fucked up, not you.

"I know," he said.

"Why not?" You asked him, firmness now in your voice. Amanda gently pinched your elbow just enough for you to feel it. You took a deep breath and asked him again, softer this time. "Why not?"

"Because I–" he started but got interrupted by someone calling his name.

"SHAWN!" You looked around his tall stature and saw a beautiful brunette running towards him, her hair flowing behind her like she was in some kind of a fucking movie. He turned towards her and you could have sworn his cheeks turned redder than they were from just playing ball.
