[Hawkins 2010]
Miles was running as fast as he could down the hallway. It had been five months since he and his sister had been kidnapped from their home. They had been taken to Hawkins National Laboratory. Just like their mother, they had been given numbers, Mackenzie 022, and Miles 023. They also had a little brother who had not been taken, James, who was only four years old. Miles and Mackenzie Wheeler had powers. Just like their mom.If Brenner caught Miles, he was dead meat. Brenner's father was the one who locked their mom up when she was a kid. He just prayed he didn't have to be punished like she did.
[Hawkins 1986]
To say that everyone was confused was a huge understatement. They had carried her to the couch and decided to wait to tell Mrs. Wheeler. They decided that she looked pretty run down and decided to let her sleep.
"So what the hell happened?" Dustin said, his voice squeaking a little.
Mike and Eleven we both studying her features very closely. "Does she remind you of someone?" El asked, a bit confused.
"Yeah." He said shrugging it off.
They were about to tell Mike's mom when she suddenly started moving. One of her hands fell from under her head and everyone froze. On her wrists, she had the numbers "022" tattooed in black ink. El, immediately looked shocked as she looked down at her own wrist. Mike saw the fear in her eyes, so he took her hand. They walked over to the other side of the stairs to talk about what they should do.
Five minutes passed, and they still were freaking out. Mackenzie started to wake up when she realized where she was. She was feeling much better, and decided that, since they were distracted, she would try to leave. She started quietly walking towards the door when she heard a voice from behind her.
"Um, where are you going?" Max asked
"Shit!" Mak whispered she slowly turned around to face them with a smile. "Thanks for the slumber party, but I should really get back home." She turned around once more when another familiar voice called her.
"Your wrist." El said.
Mackenzie turned to face her and for the first time, she saw her. The younger version of her mother. She looked over to see a strangely similar, but younger version of her father. Her parents Michael Wheeler and Jane Eleven Hopper-Wheeler, were standing before her staring at her as if she was a stranger. She wasn't going to lie, it hurt.
She slowly pulled out her wrist. Just enough for them to see.
"What does it mean?" Lucas asked cautiously.
"Me." Was all that Mackenzie said to make Will get shivers down his spine.
"It's your name." El said.
Mak couldn't make eye contact with either of them. So she looked at Dustin, Lucas, and Max, and shook her head. "Mackenzie. Mak for short."
El was still looking at her inquisitively. She looked like she was trying to put a puzzle together with her mind, which, she's done. "Have I met you?" El asked. For the first time since she's gotten here, she looked directly at El, almost shocked, and smiled. They shared a moment before Max interrupted. Mak knew that she had to leave before someone came looking. Just like how the Lab had kept in touch with the Upside Down, they had kept in touch with different times.
"So do you like have powers or something?" Max asked bluntly.
"Yes, multiple, actually" Mak stated. Everyone waited for her to tell them what they were when she rolled her eyes and said "Look I really have to go." She started to head for the door. Before they could stop her, she moved the couch in front of them to block their path with her mind. Everyone stood their shocked. Before they hopped over the couch to find her.
She ran fast, faster than any time before. She stopped to catch her breath when she saw the party catching up on their bikes. She rolled her eyes and ran faster. Losing them this time. Well, most of them.
Eleven and Mike were ahead of everyone. For some strange reason they both felt the need to help this girl. Protective even. They felt this strange connection to her and they had no idea why. They caught up to Mackenzie. They had lost the others but, they didn't care. They found her sitting outside of the Lab.
"Why the hell would she come back?" Mike asked. El shrugged. But, what confused them more was that, the Lab was completely run down. Nobody had used it in years. How would they be able to make more studies if the Lab didn't even exist. Since Mackenzie didn't see them, they decided to let it stay that way for now.
Mackenzie was trying to keep in touch with her brother. That's all they knew. They were both listening intently, not wanting to miss a single word. Hell, all they knew about this girl was that she was from the Lab.
They both watched in amazement as she made herself a chair out of sticks without even touching them. Her nose was bleeding just like how El's did when she used her powers.
They looked at each other confused. El and her sister Kali both had different powers. Every test subject did. So, how did she have the same powers as El?
El looked up at Mike with a confused look. "How did she-" before she could finish, he quickly replied, "I have no clue."
Mackenzie pulled out her Walkie-Talkie and began trying to contact someone. Her brother. Did he escape too? Where is he? How old is he? All of these questions were popping into their minds. Mak looked about 14 but, they weren't sure. Both of them were going on 15.
"Miles!" She shouted. "Tell me you're okay! Are you hurt?" They both looked at each other confused. "I made it here safely. Oh and by the way, I saw mom and dad!" She stated. El and Mike gave each other another weird look.
El gasped. She knew what was going on. She had heard stories about time travel like this. The way she looked familiar, the way she barley looked at her or Mike, the way she knew exactly where they were, and the tag on her wrist that can't be from this time. After she took a couple seconds to think about this, she realized that Mike was looking worriedly at her. He was waiting for an answer for why she gasped.
"Mike." She said.
"Yes?" He asked, holding out the vowel in the word.
"How would you feel," She started, "If we had a daughter running around Hawkins?"
His face turned from worried to scared but, almost happy. "Are you..." He paused. He swallowed hard before he pointed to her stomach.
"What?! No, no, no, no!" She said, taking his hand as he sighed with relief.
She giggled before returning to her question. Before she could say anything, they heard Mackenzie shout, "Miles Cody Michael Wheeler! Answer me!"
Mike froze. For the first time that day, he connected the dots. He stepped back on a twig, and realized that they all heard the twig snap. Mackenzie snapped up realizing that they had heard everything. Instead of running, she froze. Mike and El approached her like she was a baby deer.
"Who are you?" Mike asked.
"Your daughter." Mak said.
