Gon was sat on the floor, mindlessly staring at the book in front of him, mumbling a bit under his breath as he analyzed the page. There were scrawled words all over the page and images of ways to wave a wand, along with a designed trimming of flowers and vines along the edges of the pages.

As he stared at the paper, he waved his wand with the instructions and the wand glowed softly at the end. As he continued to wave it, the glow grew brighter, but Gon paid it no mind, entranced by the page before him.

And then, after waving the wand for a good three minutes, the spell shot out of the wand and rammed itself into the wall across from him. Large twisting vines, sharp-edged leaves, and fragrant soft lavender burst out from the charred spot on the wall, and Gon stared at it wide-eyed.

"Crap, I didn't mean to do that," He whispered to himself as the plants continued to grow from the spot. He waited for a while, hoping that they'd stop and that he could just cut them away once they stopped, but they didn't stop, they kept growing and filling up the room. Gon knew he was screwed as they continued to grow. He shot up from his position and raced out of the room and into the kitchen where two of his friends — Leorio and Kurapika — were talking.

"Guys, we have a problem," he yelled as he raced into the room, not waiting for them to respond before he started shuffling through the cupboards and slamming each door closed when he couldn't find what he needed.

"We have a problem? No, you have a problem?" Kurapika asked while sipping his tea, not looking up from the book he was reading. Honestly, this was a usual happening in the house, and he had just taken a long night shift, so he wasn't going to give a shit.

Leorio, on the other hand. Shot up at the mention of an emergency and yelled at Gon. "What the hell are you doing to my house."

"Our house, we all pay rent," Kurapika interrupted.

"It's not. I pay half the rent and buy food while you two just bunk here — we're not having this conversation. What the fuck did you do?"

"I was practicing a planting spell because I needed lavender for a brew I was thinking of doing. But I stopped paying attention because something wasn't making sense, and then I accidentally activated the spell after letting it sit in my wand for three minutes and now the plants are growing out of the wall and they aren't stopping." He said it all in one quick burst while still trying to find something to kill the plants.

"Goddamnit Gon," Leorio yelled at him and joined in his search for a killing spray. They had made a brew of it the other day, but they never labeled where their things were — something Kurapika told them that they should work on. Of course, they never took his advice, and now they were reaping their karma.

Kurapika rolled his eyes before getting up and pulling his wand from behind his ear. "I'll deal with it," he said in an annoyed voice as he made his way towards the room.

Both Leorio and Gon stopped their searching and sheepishly walked over to the room and watched as Kurapika waved his wand a few times, tea still in his other hand.

After a few waves of his wand and some mumbled incantations, the plants began to shrivel up and crush into themselves as they slowly began to disappear.

Finally, they were gone and everyone breathed a sigh of relief, Gon began to slink back, and try to get out of sight from the others.

Well, he tried, and it was a good try, but Leorio grabbed the collar of his shirt — something that was much easier when Gon was 12, but now he was 18 and just as tall as Leorio — and they made eye contact with each other.
