Throughout your whole life, you have never liked how you looked. You have always thought you were too fat. You thought that losing weight would be the only way to finally be happy.

For the past three months, you have only eaten a small amount of fruits and vegetables every day and you've run on the treadmill every single night. Even when you had a cold, you forced yourself to run. It has been a very tiring routine for you, but also rewarding. You've lost thirty pounds so far. You can almost guarantee that when you come home from school, the scale will tell you that you're a few ounces lighter than the day before. It doesn't take long for the ounces to add up into pounds.

Watching the numbers drop has been one of the most exciting things, but when you look in the mirror, you don't feel like you've changed at all. Actually, you feel even fatter than you did before. You used to think that when your bmi was finally underweight, you'd be happy, but even now that it finally is, you're still consumed with just as much self hatred as before. You've been getting questions from family members and concerned stares, but you don't understand why, because all you see is the same fat girl in the mirror that was there before.

The one person you wish could be with you is your boyfriend, Shawn. He always makes everything better. When you're with Shawn, you can sometimes forget all of your worries. He's been away working hard, but he's supposed to be coming back soon. He wasn't sure exactly what day he'd be home, but the last time you spoke to him he said that he would be home this week.

Today when you got home from school, you weighed yourself. The number 89.6 blinked on the scream and you were so delighted. You had finally gotten out of the 90's. You're next goal was to get down to the 70's. After glancing at your self in the mirror, trying and failing to see a difference in your body, you walked to your room and got ready to run. You dug out a pair of extremely baggy jogging pants and found a lose t-shirt. You threw those on along with your shoes. You grabbed a water and headed to the treadmill. You pressed the up arrow to start the speed, but before you could even start running, you heard a knock on the door. You got up to go get it, but before you reached the door Shawn was walking in.

"Shawn!" you screamed.

You ran into his arms and jumped into his embrace.

"I've missed you so much, (y/n)! I feel like I haven't seen you in forever. I love you." Shawn said as he squeezed you tight.

He set you down and his hands grazed over your hipbones. You saw his eyes flicker with confusion and worry for a second, but then they were back to excitement.

"So, since I haven't seen you in so long. I was thinking that I would take you out on a date to our favorite restaurant. Why don't you get dressed, and then we can head out." Shawn said excitedly.

"Okay, that sounds great, Shawn! I'm just going to run real quick, and then I'll get ready and stuff."

"(Y/N)," Shawn said in disbelief, " we haven't seen each other in forever, yet you're still going to take time to run, when we could be with each other? Baby, that's fine, I just thought you'd be happier to see me."

"I am happy, Shawn. I just can't...I just don't know how to not... I just really need to run." you said, stumbling over all your words.

"(Y/N)", Shane said cautiously, his voice coated with concern. "Is everything okay?"

"Y-yes-s. Perfectly fin--" you didn't finish the last statement, because tears started steaming down your face. You were expecting to cry, but with Shawn there, it was so hard to keep your walls up.

"Come here, baby" Shawn said, pulling your body into his.

His strong arms held you up as you cried out all your emotions from the past few months. His hands felt bones where he used to not, and he started to figure out what was going on. He waited until you were done crying to say anything.

"(Y/N), you are so gorgeous. You always have been, and you always will be. But you can't keep doing this. I can't let you lose more weight. God, I can't believe I let this happen! If I wasn't gone, I would have been here and I could have helped you. I could have stopped this sooner. Baby, trust me when I say that your weight has nothing to do with your beauty and it never will. You have been perfect since the day I met you and you always will be. I love you, honey, and I'm sorry if you don't want to hear this, but you need to get healthy again. I understand that that is really hard, but I'm going to be right here for you, helping you every step of he way. I love you, (Y/N). I really, really do."

"Shawn, don't blame yourself for what happened. You didn't do anything wrong. You've only done everything right. Shawn I promise I'll get healthy. As long as you're with me, I can do anything. I love you, Shawn. I love you so much."

You and Shawn didn't end up making it to the restaurant. Instead, you had an even better night. Shawn made a healthy dinner, and you ate as much of it as you could. You spent the rest of the night cuddled into him, and he made sure that you felt beautiful.
