Kaminari's POV

I slap Genzo's hand away from me as Hitoshi walks over to us with confident steps. His eyebrows are knitted together and his hands are clenched into fists, I've never seen such an angry expression on his normally calm face.

"You his boyfriend or something?" Genzo snickers, and I bite my lip bruisingly hard. I'm afraid to make any wrong movements because I know how short both of my former bullies tempers are, and how erratic they can be. It wouldn't be the first time they had used their quirks on me.

"What's it to you?" Hitoshi barks, his eyes flickering between me and Genzo. I shake my head slightly, trying to stop Hitoshi from saying anything dumb.

"Ha! I knew he was a faggot all along! You hear that Hatsue?" Genzo sneers as Hatsue bursts into laughter. I feel my chest tighten, and my cheeks heat up in embarrassment, despite my attempt at keeping myself calm and collected. I look over to Hitoshi who is visibly shaking with anger by now. He raises his arm and punches the absolute shit out of Genzo before I even get the chance to speak.

Genzo drops to the ground, groaning in pain. Blood is already flowing from his nose, which is most likely now broken, and he wipes it away with his sleeve.

"What the fuck man?!" Genzo shouts and tries to get up but Hitoshi grabs him by his collar, punching him again. The awful smacking noise that Hitoshi's fist makes against Genzo's cheek echoes in the silent park, and Hatsue shrieks in terror. Hitoshi steps away from Genzo, and Hatsue rushes over to his boyfriend. My mouth hangs open as I look at Hitoshi, who is looking down at them with a cold stare.

"You fucker! What's wrong with you?!" Hatsue screams, trying to help Genzo who seems to be barely conscious. All color has left my face by now as I look at the man with unruly hair and angry eyes. This is not the same Hitoshi I knew, and for the first time, I truly felt intimated by him.

"Next time that you guys taunt Kaminari, I'll make sure that he doesn't get up ever again," Hitoshi's icy words hang heavily in the air, and Hatsue glares at him, she is clearly nervous and pissed off by now. She isn't the type to start a fistfight, she is just all talk.

"Let's just go," I say quietly as I grab Hitoshi by his arm, who reluctantly starts walking away with me. He brushes my hand off, and the act leaves a faint sting in my heart. We walk in silence away from Genzo and Hatsue, the air feels unbearably awkward.

"I'm sorry," Hitoshi says after a minute. He looks at the ground as we walk, his slow steps sync with mine.

"What for?" I reply, shoving my hands in my pockets.

"I should have controlled myself better. I just- lost it. What that asshole said made me just.. fucking angry," Hitoshi said through gritted teeth, clenching his hands.

I hum in response, looking up at my purple-haired friend. "It's alright," I assure him. Hitoshi sighs deeply, dropping his shoulders.

"It's not. I just caused you more trouble, most likely," he mumbles and glances at me quickly, his apologetic eyes glimmering in the dark. A cold breeze ruffles both of our hair, and I pull my jacket tighter around me.

"They won't come after me as long as I'm with you," I say quietly to him as a group of other teenagers walk past us. I link my arm with Hitoshi's, and he tries to suppress a smile. The warmth of Hitoshi's body enveloped my mind in a case of security, and I sighed contentedly.

"Here we are," Hitoshi says, and I look up at the dark oak door in front of me. He fishes the keys out of his pocket and opens the door for me, letting me in first. With hesitant steps, I walk inside and the familiar scent of Hitoshi engulfed me. The earthy mixture of citrus, old wood and rosemary comforted me in a way, and I felt the never-ending tension leave my aching bones.
