Usually it takes me ten full minutes trying to get myself out of bed, except for the past few days. The second I hear my alarm clock beep I spring out of bed and sprint into the bathroom. Every morning, the first thing that pops into my brain is the new kid, Luke.
Instead of my usual simple eyeliner and dark lipstick, I've been going all out with eye shadow and even foundation. Whenever I return back to my room, I receive the normal "good morning!:-)" text from Summer that instantly brightens my day. I open my closet doors and wonder what style I should approach today. Deciding on a black circle skirt pairing with a skull graphic tee and my black vans, I stare in the mirror. Ever since Luke arrived, I've been slowly but surely gaining the courage to talk to him, even if it's a simple "hey, can I borrow a pencil?". I grab my backpack and head downstairs.
"Good morning, mom" I exclaimed.
"Well good morning to you to." she said with slight confusion as to why I seemed to cheerful.
I walked outside and waited for Summer; she gives me a ride to school on Fridays, the only day she doesn't have to be there early for zero hour classes. Her car pulled up in the distance and i skipped to the door.
"Aren't you Little Miss Sunshine today. Let me guess, it's because of you dream boy." she mocked.
"Shut up!" I could feel my cheek turn a shade closely resembling a bright red tomato.
"He's all you've been thinking about for the past three days, why don't you just talk to him?"
"Because! What if he thinks I'm an ugly creep or something?"
"Um, V, have you looked in the mirror? You're stunning. I wouldn't be surprised if you're all he thinks about".
Summer parked the car and we went inside, hearing the bell ring the instant we stepped in. We made our way to biology with my mind, once again, racing. I shuffled into the classroom behind a crowd and ran my eyes directly to his seat, already being occupied and looking directly at me. My heart skipped a beat as my hands became clammy and my stomach swirled. Quickly, I sat in my seat avoiding eye contact as much as possible. So much ran through my head that I could barely keep up with my thoughts.
"Good morning, class" Mr. Langley said as the class began.
Every now and then I would sneak a look up to see Luke doing the exact same. After an exchange of multiple awkward glances, the bell rang and I gathered my stuff. I waited for Summer and we made our way to the next class and continued on with the day.
If there's one thing I despise more than the internet at my house going out, it's the school halls, more specifically, during lunch hour. People push and shove not even thinking about what they're doing. Loud conversations were being thrown left and right. Whenever I'm in the hall, I tend to keep my head down and my music on. In this case it may not have been the brightest idea when I ran right into somebodies shoulder. My book flew out of my arms and slid across the floor, soon the be trampled upon my careless teenagers.
I didn't even have to look up to know who I ran into.
Luke.
"Sorry," I mumbled.
"No that was my fault, I wasn't paying any attention. Hey, aren't you in my bio and english class?"
Play it cool, V.
"Um, yea, and world history, I think."
"Oh, yea, you're Violet. Sorry about bumping into you, I should really start to look where I'm going"
V, stay calm.
"It's really no problem, I'm kinda used to it." I laid eyes on my book and went to pick it up. The countless number of footsteps bent and bruised the cover.
"I guess I'll have to get you a new book." he said and before I could add any sort of comment he began to rip a piece of notebook paper and grabbed a pen out of his backpack. "Let me make it up to you. We can meet up at the bookstore and I'll buy you whatever book you want. Here's my number."
Oh. My. God.
"No, really, it's fine. I have plenty of other books at my house." I stammered and as soon as my sentence ended, the bell rang. Taking hold of my free hand, he gave me the slip of paper and closed it.
"I'll talk to you later, Violet." he walked away with a slight smirk.
I stood speechless until I realized I was about to be late for class. With a quick pace, I hurried through the nearly empty halls and into my next class.
The last bell finally rang after a mind-boggling day. Summer took me home and the moment I walked inside, I rushed upstairs. Before changing into a pair of grey sweats, I retrieved the piece of paper with Luke's number on it and immediately put in into my phone. Before I chickened out, I sent him a text.
[To: Luke:-)]

Roughly two minutes later, he sent a text back.
[From: Luke:-)]
