COME BACK // Alex Morgan

chapter five

"Hi, I'm Harper" I say, shaking Jeri's hand.

"I'm Jeri" she replies. "Now, please, take a seat"

I smile and take a seat.

"So, you are 14?" she asks.

"Yeah" I reply.

"Wow, time flies" she smiles.

I smile back at her, but then start to think about Alex again. Even though she was in the wrong state of mind back then, why didn't her family help stop her? Why was I the one that had to suffer in the long run? Now she's a multi-millionaire that is bringing me back to help her reputation. There must be some stuff that she hasn't told me yet.

"Have you and Alex gotten along so far?"

"I mean, I guess. It's just hard for me to accept someone into my life that helped make it difficult" I sigh.

She puts her hand on my thigh and rubbed her thumb on it.

"Just know that she really loves you Harper. She made a stupid mistake, and regrets it"

I nod.

"Yeah..." I say.

"Well" she begins. "Are you excited for the She Believes Cup?"

"Mhmm. I've never really watched soccer before, so this will be interesting"

She smiles, as the waiter walks over and we begin ordering our food

"ALEX!!" Kelley yells running over to me.

Since I play for the Orlando Pride, which are in Florida, I only had to drive to get to Tampa, so Kelley asked me if I could pick her up and drive her to the hotel.

"How are you Kell?" I say giving her a hug.

"Okay" she replies. "The ankle isn't great but it isn't the worst either"

"Well at least we get to spend time with each other and play soccer" I smile.

"So, how's life been going for you Al?"

"Good" 

"That's nice to hear" she smiles.

I unlock the car, and we load her luggage into my trunk. We then start blasting some of our favorite songs, and talk about how much we miss Allie

"How have you and Serv gotten on?" Jerri asks me.

"Who's Serv?"

"Servando, Alex's husband"

"Oh, um, we've only met once" I reply.

"Do you like him?" she asks.

"He seems like a nice guy"

"Yeah, he is. I was a little suspicious of him when Alex first started dating him, since Alex had just gotten out of another relationship, but he takes care of her and she loves him a lot"

"That's good" I say giving her a soft smile.

"I know that he won't replace your biological dad, but I hope that you can be close with him" she smiles.

I nod. "I hope so too, the only thing is that I have never met my biological dad since being put up for adoption"

She looks down at the table, and puts her hand on mine. "I'm sorry Harper, I completely forgot"

"It's okay" I say looking down at my shoes.

"So, what do you do for a living" I say trying to change the subject.

"Oh, well my husband and I travel"

"Cool"

My phone that starts ringing. "Um I'll be right back"

I walk over to a little garden and answer the call.

"Hey Harper" a deep voice says.

"Hello?"

"This is your biological dad, Owen"
