The 100 Walks with the Dead

Chapter 6

While everyone was getting ready to start their new job's, Shane was sat in his room. He refused to do what these people wanted, sure he'd smile and nod, start the dailies but in him mind, he was planning a way to take over. His plan was simple: lay low, follow the rules, all the while he was watching, looking for weaknesses. He would wait until their guard was down, then he would take out the leaders, he might have to kill a few of them for them to see that he means business. With an evil smile and a plan in his mind, Shane set out to 'work'.

Meanwhile, Rick was getting to know their new hosts, trying to integrate and keep the peace. He found that even though these people were born in space, they were just like everyone else. They had their own governments and everything. He found out, that instead of the the death penalty, when you warrant the punishment they 'floated' you, meaning the shot you out an air lock. Harsh but effective and less diseases that way.

Noah was tasked with working with Raven, making communication towers, which were a bit like the cell towers. With luck, everyone will have a way of communicating when they go on 'missions'. He was proud to be picked for this task, it gave him meaning and he felt like he belonged.

Maggie and Carol were set in the med bay, they were shadowing the best on the fields, alternating shifts to get the best out of the learning experience. Carol was in her element, she was in charge of giving all the children their check ups and shots. Maggie was in charge of looking after the older patients, to say that they were finding this new place home was an understatement.

Carl and Sofia were attending classes in what they wanted to do. Carl wanted to follow in his dads footsteps, he takes classes to become a cadet and soon he will be a junior guard, possibly working alongside his father. Sofia on the other hand, found that she licked technology and the way things were made. She started classes in the tech field, learning under Alie Becca with Sasha. Sasha, as it turns out, was a jack of all trades. She was taken under Lincoln's wing. Learning everything she could like a sponge from Lincoln as well as going back to Alie and working with her and Sofia.

Daryl was put in charge of teaching a few courses on 'Earth Survival' as they put it. He taught their new host how to track, hunt and skin your kill, making sure they all knew that nothing goes to waste, there is a use for every part of the animal. Along with that job he also was put as guard for the Sunday shifts.

Morgan, Bob and Tara learned a lot from their teachers, but they also taught them things that couldn't be replicated in space. They would go out in the mornings and take samples of the soil, test it against data from the Ark, before setting up a greenhouse to start a nursery. Once they got things started, it would only be a matter of time before they were able to start growing their own food.

Aaron and Ezekiel were doing well in their chosen profession, but they wanted to do more. They got together with a few others from the Ark. They put together an outline of a plan to start building houses and a school as well as other buildings that would be needed for this new world that they were living in.
